He said gay culture was against African culture and beliefs and was being promoted by the West.
The governor, who said his administration would shun corruption, commended the Anglican Communion for its strong stance on homosexuality.
“Gay marriage is not a belief of Africans and the Church. The issue is a new development and is a reflection of the event of Sodom and Gomorrah, so we must reject it,” he said.
Archbishop Okoh in his response urged the government to help in the fight to resist gay relationships in the state. He cited the fact that the three major religions in the country were against same sex relationships.
Meanwhile, Okoh has urged the federal government not to accept same sex marriage especially as it is being legalised in other countries.
