According to Sahara Reporters, These victims whose corpses remain unburied are said to be civilians who could not survive hunger as they tried to get to Adamawa State.

One source close to the area said: ”Many atrocities [were] committed by Boko haram insurgents during Boko Haram reign at Gwoza, most of the mountain unburied bodies lying down. Hundreds of corpses are still there.”
He added: ”If you go to the these mountains around Gwoza axis you wouldn’t be able to eat meats, sand has eaten some the bodies as many bones dry up due to heat. ”
Gwoza had been liberated by the Nigerian army on the eve of presidential election in March, but the town is still under military control as no civilian is being allowed in or out.
This comes as French Prime minister, Francois Hollande told Nigerian President of France’s support in the fight against terrorism.
In April 2015, Eye witnesses claimed to have seen the Chibok girls in Gwoza but the Nigerian military has yet to ascertain where the girls are currently being held.
