The
event which happened yesterday, June 10, was an opportunity for US
congresswoman, Fredrica Wilson and some of her colleagues to identify
with the girls.
The congress members wore red
clothing in solidarity with the girls who are still missing and held up
banners with the inscriptions #BringBackOurGirls in a photo shoot.
They
photo shoots were outside the Congress building where they joined other
celebrities around the world to call for the safe return of the other
girls as they requested their rescue.
Some of the girls are now benefiting from a scholarship programme in the US state of Oregon. The
scholarship is courtesy of a Virginia-based non-profit organisation
called the Jubilee Campaign in collaboration with some Nigerian
activists.
