On Saturday, Oct. 10, the same day that Kanye West performed for President Barack Obama and received some sage advice about his 2020 presidential bid, the “FourFiveSeconds” rapper crossed another item off his bucket list — by auditioning as a faux contestant on American Idol.
West, 38, surprised Idol judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick, Jr., and Keith Urban in San Francisco when he stepped into the room to try out for the reality singing competition.

His song of choice? His 2005 hit “Gold Digger,” sung a cappella.
Yeezy, decked out in a black T-shirt, black jeans, a brown jacket and gold chain, couldn’t stop smiling as he punked the judges — and walked away with the golden ticket to Hollywood.
