Demi Lovato is signed with Wilhelmina Models (Photo: Instagram)
It’s a big day for Demi Lovato — on the same day as the release date of her fifth album, Confident, she’s signed a contract with Wilhelmina Models. The 23-year-old is multi-talented as a singer-songwriter, actor, philanthropist, X Factor judge, and business owner, and she already has considerable experience modeling for her own nail polish and skin care companies. Her empowered nude shoot with no makeup or retouching in Vanity Fair’s November issue prove she has the chops to add “model” to her résumé.
“We are so thrilled to represent such a sophisticated, confident, and talented woman, as Demi,” says Wilhelmina CEO Alex Vaickus in a recent press release. “She has proved that she is an accomplished singer and actress, and we look forward to seeing her success within the modeling realm.”
Lovato recognizes the contract as a career-defining moment. “I’m very excited to see where our work together will go creatively as I enter the next phase of my career and continue to develop as an artist,” the star says in the press release.
As for what we can expect from Lovato’s career in modeling, Wilhelmina’s senior model manager, Jose Covarrubias, thinks she’ll go far. “We are very excited to have such a phenomenal music star with an editorially beautiful image on board with us here at Wilhelmina,” says Covarrubias. “Not only is Demi immensely talented, she also has confidence, sophistication, maturity and body positivity that we will use to build her presence in the world of fashion.” The agency hopes to elevate Lovato to an even more impressive status through campaigns, editorial shoots, and endorsement deals in the style and beauty space. One thing is for sure: The modeling industry could use her body-positive attitude.

Hillary moneyman highlights new Saudi connection

The Saudi government, under increasing criticism over civilian casualties from its airstrikes in Yemen and a harsh crackdown on political dissidents at home, has just hired a powerhouse Washington, D.C., lobbying firm headed by a top Hillary Clinton fundraiser — an arrangement that critics charge raises fresh questions about the influence that foreign government lobbyists could have on her campaign.
The Saudi contract with the Podesta Group, owned by veteran Washington lobbyist and Clinton campaign bundler Tony Podesta, calls for the firm to provide “public relations” and other services on behalf of the royal court of King Salman.
It included an initial “project fee” payment of $200,000 last month and unspecified further sums over the course of the next year, according to documents recently filed with the Justice Department Foreign Agents Registration Act office.
The retention comes at a time when the Saudis are being condemned by United Nations officials over reports that their bombings against Houthi strongholds in Yemen’s civil war have resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of innocent civilians, including children.
Adding to the international pressure, the Saudis are also facing criticism from human rights groups over their continued refusal to allow basic rights to women (e.g., the freedom to drive cars). They are also being criticized for their hard-line domestic suppression of political dissidents, with draconian punishments such as the sentence — by beheading — recently given to a 20-year-old Shiite political protester.
“They are very nervous about an American policy change, and so they are betting on the horse they think will win — Hillary Clinton,” said Ali Al-Ahmad, a Saudi analyst with the Institute for Gulf Affairs, and a frequent critic of the regime, about the hiring of the Podesta Group.
The Podesta Group is now on a roster of a half-dozen D.C. lobbying firms representing the Saudis, including the giant international law firm DLA Piper and the firm Hogan Lovells, whose principal on the Saudi account is former Minnesota Republican Sen. Norm Coleman, who chairs the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super-PAC that is a major source of House GOP campaign funds. (Former Texas congressman Tom Loeffler, a top bundler for Jeb Bush’s presidential campaign, for years represented the Saudis, but his current firm, Akin Gump, now lobbies for the United Arab Emirates, among other foreign clients.)
But the retention of the Podesta Group has gotten attention in Washington lobbying circles because of its unusually close ties to Hillary Clinton’s campaign: Tony Podesta is the brother and former business partner of Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta. He is also a prolific Democratic Party fundraiser who is among 43 Washington lobbyists (many of whom also represent foreign governments) listed as Clinton campaign bundlers in reports filed by the campaign with the Federal Election Commission.
The reports disclose that Podesta had raised $140,175 for the Clinton campaign through Sept. 30. Two weeks ago, just days after filing its Saudi contract with the Justice Department, Podesta held a Clinton campaign fundraiser at his home that offered fine Italian food cooked by five gourmet chefs, including himself and his brother, the campaign chairman.
The Podesta Group point man on the Saudi account is David Adams, who previously served as assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs in 2011 and 2012, making him Clinton’s chief Capitol Hill lobbyist for her last two years as secretary of state, according to Justice Department filings reviewed by Yahoo News.
But Tony Podesta, while calling himself “a proud Clinton bundler,” vigorously denied that the Saudi contract had anything to do with his efforts to elect her president. “I’ve never had a conversation with Hillary Clinton or anybody in the campaign about the work of the firm,” Podesta said when reached by Yahoo News on his cellphone while he was dining at a restaurant in Sicily. “We represent a dozen foreign governments around the world — we do good work for them. And it has nothing to do with the Hillary Clinton campaign
Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy kiss during their wedding ceremony. Photo: Getty Images
A woman named Angelababy, one of the most famous Chinese actresses today, married Huang Xiaoming in a wedding that reportedly cost nearly 200 million yuan — that’s $43 million. The bride, who was born Yeung Wing and got her unique moniker by combining her chosen English name, Angela, with her nickname, baby, is basically China’s Kim Kardashian equivalent (she has one of the most followed Weibo accounts in the world) and threw an extravagant celebration, widely considered to be one of the biggest in the world.
To put this into context, Kevin Kwan, the author of Crazy Rich Asians explained the affair as such: “If Chris Evans were to marry Jennifer Lawrence in a very public, all paparazzi invited wedding held at Radio City Music Hall, that would not even come close to the magnitude of this wedding.”
The massive venue decorated in pinks, purples, neon lights, and flowers.
The over-the-top affair took place at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, a 200,000 square foot space, with 2,000 of the couple’s closest friends in attendance. The venue was decorated in pinks and purples, with the hall transformed into a romantic fairytale set straight out of a movie. Some of those theatrics included a castle projected via hologram and lights displayed in the shapes of stain-glass windows. Funny enough, just like the Wests, a giant wall of white flowers was erected for photo opps.
The cake was taller than the bride and groom.
Among the 75 tables of guests were many media correspondents who took care of publicizing the highly-sponsored event. This might seem shocking to have advertisers involved in a wedding, but Kwan said that “of course it’s no surprise if there were brand sponsors, as this was the wedding uniting two huge celebrity brands.” Security guards (nearly 200 of them) watched over the red envelopes, a traditional monetary gift given during special occasions, while luxury cars including Ferraris and Rolls Royces idled outside. If the multiple-course meal didn’t fill everyone up, the cake, taller than the bride and groom with a rotating carousel as one of the many layers, certainly did.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Just as Democrats were starting to count him out, Joe Biden sent a clear signal through his political team that not only might he enter the presidential race soon, he has a strategy prepared that he thinks could win.
Joe Biden
Vice President Joe Biden reacts to questions about his potential run for president by members of the media as he waits for South Korean President Park Geun-hye to arrive for lunch at the Naval Observatory, Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, in Washington.
After months of growing calls for him to run, the vice president's tide began turning this week after the first Democratic debate, which softened concerns about front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton while obscuring any obvious rationale for Biden to run. But in a letter to former Biden staffers late Thursday, one of Biden's closest advisers traced the contours of the argument Biden would make, and suggested a decision to run could be imminent.
"If he runs, he will run because of his burning conviction that we need to fundamentally change the balance in our economy and the political structure to restore the ability of the middle class to get ahead," former Sen. Ted Kaufman said in an email to a list of Biden alumni. The letter was obtained by The Associated Press.
Kaufman, who served as Biden's chief of staff for two decades before replacing him in the Senate, has been at the vice president's side for months, brought back into the immediate fold after Biden's son died in May. He and two other aides have formed a protective and tight-lipped ring around Biden as he ponders a 2016 campaign.
ADVERTISING
"If he decides to run, we will need each and every one of you — yesterday," Kaufman said, alluding to the breakneck speed at which Biden would have to ramp up a campaign after waiting this long to enter. Kaufman said he is confident Biden understands "the practical demands of making a final decision soon."
Although Biden's small team has been drafting a campaign blueprint and screening likely staffers for months, the letter to Biden's former Senate, White House and campaign aides marked the most direct call to date for support for a potential campaign. It came as a growing number of Democratic leaders, including Clinton's campaign chairman, expressed frustration with Biden's delays and questioned whether it was already too late.
Yet even in the face of such skepticism, Biden has remained actively engaged in feeling out a potential campaign, placing calls this week to key Democrats in early primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire, said several individuals familiar with the conversations. These individuals weren't authorized to comment publicly and requested anonymity. Still, they insisted that Biden had not yet made a final call.
In the letter, Kaufman didn't identify specific policies Biden would propose if he ran. But in describing the approach the vice president would take, the letter drew an implicit contrast with Clinton, who has been criticized by some as a candidate for appearing calculated or overly choreographed.
"A campaign from the heart. A campaign consistent with his values, our values, and the values of the American people," Kaufman said. "And I think it's fair to say, knowing him as we all do, that it won't be a scripted affair — after all, it's Joe."
"He believes we must win this election," Kaufman added, previewing a likely argument that Biden represents the best chance Democrats have to protect President Barack Obama's legacy. "Everything he and the president have worked for — and care about — is at stake," Kaufman said.
Biden hasn't spoken publicly about his deliberations in weeks, dodging shouted questions from reporters during public events this week. Kaufman said Biden's top consideration was "the welfare and support of his family," a reference to doubts Biden expressed in September about whether he and his family were emotionally ready to run while still grieving the death of former Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden.
It was unclear whether Biden's renewed signal of interest would be enough to keep his name in serious contention — or for how long. The first filing deadlines for primary states are about two weeks away, and Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders both raised more than $25 million in their last three-month stretch, illustrating Biden's immense disadvantage.
"The indecision becomes a problem for people," said Sam Tenenbaum, a Biden supporter and longtime Democratic donor in South Carolina. "They're sympathetic, but I think you've got to make up your mind.

She continued: “Do they each understand how special they are and how much I love them? And are they understanding that they’re unique? It’s hard to make each one feel like an individual when you have to raise them together and manage them together all of the time.”

The former couple, who still seem to be cordial, were recently spotted hanging out and enjoying some quality time with their two boys at a park in Los Angeles.
The actress hasn't made any comments about her split, but took to her Instagram last month to break her 23-week social media hiatus after the news of her divorce spread. "Hi. I'm still here, I just continue to have an angsty relationship with social media. But what better way to express my apprehension than with a selfie. This time in black n white," she captioned the photo that showed off her sultry pout and blue eyes.

Science has revealed the hazards involved in wearing bras for women.
Yesterday, October 13, was set aside as the ‘National No Bra Day’. It is a day set aside for women to let off their bras at home in order to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Since the emergence of bras, it has come in handy for women across the world. While majority of them use it as a tool to look ‘firm’ and shield the boobs from dangling all around unnecessarily, a smaller divide of the woman race wear bra for other different purposes, all best known them. However, a notorious research on bras and breasts came out a couple of years ago.

According to , a sport science researcher and a professor, Jean-Denis Rouillon, conducted a 15-year research on the effect of bras on 330 women aged 18 to 35 and the outcome was mind boggling! The research was geared towards knowing the changes that occur to the breasts yearly when a bra is worn regularly and otherwise, using a slide rule and a caliper.
The research opined that when a young girl wears a bra from an early age, it does not help support the chest, reduce back pain or prevent breast sagging, as against popular belief. “Medically, physiologically, anatomically – breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity. On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra,” Professor Rouillon told France Info in an interview. According to the research, young women get toned breasts and supporting breast tissue if no bra were used. Women who did not wear wear in the research experienced a 7-millimeter (0.3-inch) lift in their nipples compared with their other counterparts. This is because it is claimed that bras have a way of slowing down circulation and reduce breast tone with time.

However, a doctor who was not a part of the research, Stafford Broumand, also confirmed the research, saying: “For younger women, not wearing a bra will lead to increased collagen production and elasticity, which improves lift in a developing breast.”
However, the research team cautioned on drawing general conclusions from the research, saying that the women in the study are not a representative of the population as a whole.
Zahra, the amiable daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, has opened up on marriage plans, various insinuations about her in Abuja and many more.
In a recent interview with  The Amba Imprint, the first daughter opened up on how being a part of the first family in Nigeria has shaped her, how she has been hurt with various news on the media that painted her in a bad light and the marriage plans that made rounds recently.

Gorgeously dressed in her abaya, the first daughter freely answered all the questions she was being asked, mostly explaining how so many things have changed since her father became the president of the the giant of Africa, Nigeria. The president’s daughter first made public limelight shortly before the presidential election of March 28, 2015 when Buhari’s social media handlers released her pictures on Twitter,
On throwing out some people out of an Abuja boutique, Zahra said: “I was in Guildford when I heard all these things coming through and I was surprised. I was in Selfridges when someone stopped me to ask if the story was true- I was not there. I was in my sitting room in Guildford”.
Zahra alongside Maryam Laushi during the interview
On who inspires her, the beautiful young lady said: ”My mom inspires me. Whenever she is ready to do something, (she is such a fiery woman) she just gets up and gets it done and it is always for a good cause. Even my interest in charity work, I know it’s something I get from her. Since we were kids, she encouraged us to give to the less privileged and we enjoyed doing that. And.. My motivation is our position. We know that we are here to help Nigerians, it is not about us and even way before getting into this position, the less privileged have always been my motivation”.
Zahra alongside Maryam Laushi during the interview

About the fake Twitter account that impersonated her, Zahra said: ”I don’t feel good at all because the first question that comes to your mind is ‘why would someone want to be me?’ And why would you want to taint someone’s image? I knew many people would be tricked into thinking it was me, that bothered me and when the fake controversial comments came out about me talking about a president, I was hurt because this wasn’t an insult to my family only, it was to the whole of Nigeria because it is just like saying members of the first family don’t have a proper upbringing. Why would I insult a president? Why would I insult any person in general? It’s just not right. So I asked them to come up with that press release because that was the only way it would get out to people as soon as possible. That was not me and I wouldn’t do such a thing’.
When asked if she can, in future, delve into politics, Zahra laughs saying:  ‘No. Politics? I can’t. And I am still working on any other ambition. I just want to build up on how to help people; that is the main thing for me. And actually, fashion. I’m not into trendy fashion; I’m just into dressing properly and looking good and presentable most of the time.
About the , she giggled for a long time before saying:’ Eventually! Maybe I have a potential.
American President Barack Obama will send 300 US troops, along with surveillance drones, to Cameroon to counter the Nigerian militant sect Boko Haram.
US President Barack Obama informed the Congress he is sending up to 300 US military men to fight Boko Haram insurgents.
US officials said on Wednesday, October 14, that a front force of 90 American army personnel has arrived in Cameroon.
The troops will be organising airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations, the official stated, adding they would be armed for their own protection.

Obama said: “These forces are equipped with weapons for the purpose of providing their own force protection and security, and they will remain in Cameroon until their support is no longer needed.”
US troops began deploying on Monday under an agreement with the Cameroon authorities. A total of up to about 300 US service members could be sent.
The officials said the American soldiers would deploy firstly to the city of Garoua in northern Cameroon, not far from the Nigerian border. The force will comprise Predator drones for surveillance, they added.

The White House stated that the move was not in response to any changed assessment of threat in the region.
Cameroon has been fighting Boko Haram insurgents based in the neighbouring Nigeria. The sect has pledged to revenge against Cameroon for supporting the Nigerian military’s mission to crush Boko Haram.
President of Cameroon Paul Biya (L) walks with the Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari following his arrival to Cameroon for talks on the war against Boko Haram.
Over the weekend two female suicide bombers suspected to be members of the sect killed nine people near the town of Mora in Cameroon’s Far North region.
The United States has no combat troops in Africa, but has been increasing support to alliance in the region fighting the Boko Haram sect.

Waist beads are often worn by African women and it holds certain fascination for many. The beautiful stream of color blending could be one of the reasons for this fascination or the way a woman’s lower body moves when this ornament is worn could be another.

It has been named according to the tribes wearing them. In northern Nigeria, it is called ‘Jigida’ while the Yorubas refer to it as ‘Bebedi’.
Women’s sexuality in Africa as a whole is attached to a woman’s bum and the beads help women sway and show off this feature. Although much sentiment is attached to the use of this ornament, some ladies don’t mind wearing them. This present day generation doesn’t see the need to wear beads around the waist in order to make the bum shake; they would rather ‘twerk’ and shake the bum harder than those wearing the waist beads.

The wearing of beads is thought to be obscene, local and primitive. Most parents wouldn’t allow their young ones wear them. It is seen as something dirty which is meant for ladies or children with no moral upbringing. It is believed that whoever wears them is wayward and is trying desperately to attract men with it. This misconception has not discouraged the true lovers of waist beads. They hold special admiration for it.
The waist beads in truth are associated with sex and sexuality. It has the ability to stir deep erotic feelings in men. Sexual pleasure is heightened when men see waist beads resting seductively on a woman’s hips. The beads make the women aware of themselves and the power wielded round their sexuality. The waist, hips, bum and thighs become the focal point of attention when the bead is worn. Feminism and beauty is enhanced with the wearing of waist beads. Young girls wear waist beads to show they are growing into young beautiful women that are ready for marriage.
As interesting as the culture of bead wearing is, it also has some issues of spirituality attached to it. Waist beads are believed by many to have been dipped and soaked in some remedies to entice, charm and trap men. In the past, charmed beads were worn to protect women against certain forces that may be radiating negative energy around them. In pregnancy, it is believed to be a protector of the unborn baby and the mother. Charmed beads also help the women improve their sexual prowess while acting as some sort of birth control. This issue of spirituality attached to the bead is a major turn off for some men who believe they may never be able to get out of the claws of a woman wearing them once they are trapped.

The wearing of waist beads has extended to the shores of the Western and European world as belly dancers and pole workers have developed an affinity for it. Body movements are accentuated when beads are being worn.
The confidence of many the women who wear waist beads is boosted with the strings of beads round their waist. They are able to prolong sexual activities as the men run their fingers over the beads during foreplay. The sound and feel of the beads between two heated bodies during love making creates a sea of excitement for them.
