Tottenham Hotspur forward, Emmanuel Adebayor, has been granted compassionate leave to return to Togo and solve his family problems.
The Telegraph reports that Spurs head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has excused Adebayor from training this week as well as playing in the final game of the season against Everton on May 24. The footballer will not also travel on the post-season tour to Malaysia and Sydney either.
In recent weeks, Adebayor has made a series of allegations against his family that have prompted concerns over his mental state.
In the latest Facebook post, he accused his brothers Kola and Peter of holding a knife to his throat and demanding money. The footballer also confessed that he has often considered suicide as a result of his family problems.

Although Tottenham want to sell Adebayor during the summer transfer window, the club is really concerned about the player’s moral well-being.

The club bosses hope that giving Adebayor time off to go to his homeland and sort out all his problems will allow the 31-year-old to return to England in the right frame of mind.
It would be recalled that Adebayor was given compassionate leave by Spurs in December after a close family member was taken seriously ill. After a week off, Adebayor returned to Tottenham before Christmas, but has made only five appearances since then.

Meanwhile, friends and colleagues of Adebayor are worried about his recent messages and claim he is not listening to any advice, although he has reportedly consulted with Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba, about his family problems.
In his first Facebook post, Adebayor accused his younger brother Rotimi, of taking 21 mobile phones from a French football academy. A few days after, he published a second message in which, Adebayor accused his brother of stealing. In the third post, which was released this week, Adebayor revealed how his brothers attempted to murder him.

Untold story about how professional Nigerian footballer who died about three years ago, Rasheed Yekini bade farewell to mother earth  has surfaced.
The lawyer of the legendary African footballer, Jubril Olanrewaju Mohamed, in a new interview with Premium Times has revealed that the family of the deceased soccer star are fighting over the properties of the dead footballer.
This is despite the fact that the late striker had willed all his estates to his two daughters (Yemisi and Mariam) who are ages 20 and 15 respectively.
The lawyer recounted how it has been a hassle keeping Yekini’s estate for the rightful owners — his two daughters. He also made it known that the tragic death of the football star involves foul play and that justice has by no means been served.
Below are excerpts from the interview:
Can you tell us a little about you?
Jubril Olanrewaju Mohamed is my name; I was the lawyer to Late Rasheed Yekini and counsel to his estate.

How has the task of keeping Yekini’s estate being for you?
It has been a challenging time in the sense that I had to ensure that the estate he left behind is not taken away from the beneficiaries he left behind, that is his two children. They are grown up children and to ensure that they are psychologically stable has been challenging.

There are talks that Yekini had more than two children. Has there been any claim from anywhere else?
A Togolese lady came with a three-year old girl eight days after his death claiming that Yekini was the father of the child. The mother (Yekini’s mum) accepted and other members of the family. Yekini actually confessed to the relationship and one and half years after the relationship was over she came back saying she was pregnant. It even caused misunderstanding between him and his mum because he refused to accept the child but his mother accepted saying the more the merrier. We asked her to do a DNA after she came back but up till now we haven’t ascertain the authenticity of the child’s paternity.
So back to Yekini’s estate, we hear all is not well as regards that
The family called a number of times asking that the properties be sold and shared among themselves. I however told them their suggestion was unlawful, even Islamically because he had children and a mother. He (Yekini) gave his mother some property and it would be wrong of me to take it away from her. Also the rest of his property, he gave no instructions on how to do deal with it. His mansion in Ibadan is still being maintained and we have looked for an estate manager to help us look for anyone who is interested in the property to lease it because the money you would get from there would be substantial. At the moment the respective mothers are the ones taking care of their children with a little input from me. Yekini has the BQ, the five flats of three bedroom at Ijagbo, then the mansion.
Right now however, they (the children) get nothing from the estate as we are still waiting on the lease of the mansion since the mother takes all the proceeds from the other properties. The family members feel they are entitled to whatever comes from the leasing but I have said no, that these two children are basically and primary beneficiary of that estate. They can meet their mother for part of what she is getting from Ijagbo’s property which is massive but as for this one, no way.
My jurisdiction is limited to this one mansion because I do not want to stop what Yekini did not stop in his life time. The property would naturally revert back to Yekini’s estate after her demise and according to our traditions, no elderly person wants to be left behind while their child or grandchild dies, so the rent that accrues after her demise becomes that of Yekini’s children.
You have fingered foul play in the death of Yekini, do you still maintain such stance?
I maintain that stance because of the circumstances surrounding his death. He did not die naturally and I asked some questions on the circumstances leading to his death and they have not been able to provide me with answers. According to the report of his late younger sister who died shortly after he died and was the mastermind of his abduction, she said that morning of May 4, she said they gave him tea because he was tied down because they felt he would escape if they did not tie him down. She said Yekini begged to be released to see me and that he was being smoldered where he was. It was after he took a cup of tea which he requested for, he became restless and started gasping for breath. That was when they took him to a nearby hospital Al-Amin Hospital in Apete, in Ibadan.

According to the doctor who attended to him, Yekini was virtually dead when he was brought in because the pulse was actually very feeble before he could do anything the man was gone. So I wanted to see those guys who took him away and ask them what his treatment plan was because you can’t die in such circumstances and it would not raise suspicion. By the laws in Lagos state, there would have been an inquest into his death; the coroner should have been brought in to verify the cause of his death. That was what I was asking for. The family members might have had genuine reasons for doing what they did and I was not out to persecute them. I just wanted to know the cause of Yekini’s death. Just like what happened to Michael Jackson, there was an inquest. If it were a nobody now, we could just overlook such things but a whole Rasheed Yekini was taken to the native doctor forcefully and he died there and we did not know the cause of his death.
Do you think you could have done more to avert Yekini’s death?
Yes, I wish I did more to keep him safe. I thought the police order was good enough but may be stationing a policeman would have been better. I was disappointed that the police failed to make any arrest and ended up calling it a family affair and saying no one had come to declare their grievances. I asked them if there was a corpse lying in the street would they leave it there because no one came to report? They however were waiting for me to write a petition and I did not do that because I expected the police to bring up the coroner law and find out the cause of death of a man who was kidnapped from his house and later found dead despite an order restraining some people.
Finally how are Yekini’s children faring?
Yemisi is close to 20 and the other is 15. The 20-year-old is studying at the University of Leicester where she is studying performing arts. The second one is in Osogbo. She will be writing her final year exams soon.
Rasheed Yekini was born October 23, 1963 in Kaduna. He died May 4, 2012 in Ibadan.

Super Eagles forward, Emmanuel Emenike has narrated his ordeal hours after he narrowly escaped death in Turkey.
According to Emenike, he and his Fenerbahce teammates were left in shock after their team bus was shot at by a gunman on Saturday night in Turkey.
The Turkish league leaders were travelling to Trabzon airport to fly back to Istanbul, following their 5-1 victory over Rizespor, when the shooting happened.
BBC Sport reports that the driver was taken to hospital, but no players were injured in the attack which Emenike described as a ‘scary moment’.

“The incident left several players in shock on a day we should be celebrating a big away win,” Emenike told BBC Sport.
“I was on the phone with my brother when I heard the loud sound and I thought one of our tyres had busted because the bus was swerving on the road.

“But when I found our security officer in front of the bus I knew something must have gone awfully wrong.”
The 27 year old Emenike says it was not long before they realized someone had been hurt.
“We quickly realized the security guy was the one who hit the break, and he said the driver [who was already soaked in blood] had been shot.
“The word ‘shot’ came as a big shock but when we saw blood and the shattered driver’s side window, it quickly turned into a scary moment for everyone on the bus.”
He continued: “It’s unbelievable that some people actually fired shots at our bus and the driver was badly hit, a bus conveying footballers and officials.
“It’s strange, but it’s also an indication that things happen in life and no one can be guaranteed complete safety.
“I just want to wish our brave driver a speedy recovery. I will forever be grateful to him and our security man because that bus could have plunged down the bridge.
“The outcome could have been terrible and tragic but we are all here today because of them and of course God was on our side.

For Emenike, the shooting was particularly shocking as it brought back bad memories.
“I’ve been involved in a terrible accident in Nigeria before, where my mother suffered severe bruises, and for a moment I had a terrible flashback when that bus was swerving all over the road.
“I hope this incident will be investigated thoroughly and the perpetrators are made to face the justice system.
Emmanuel Emenike has only scored four goals in 23 league appearances this season but insists this latest incident will not force him to quit the Istanbul-based club.
“I have a contract here and I love the club,” he added.
“It’s only an isolated incident and not enough to make me look for an easy way out.
“I have put the past behind me and I am only focussing on what lies ahead. I am stronger now than before and right now I just want to wish our bus driver a speedy recovery.”
Fenerbahce have since called for the Turkish Super Lig to be suspended following the attack.
Emenike, who has endured a turbulent period in Turkish football since he re-joined Fenerbahce in 2013 has been plagued with series of hard times in Turkey. Recently, he demanded to be substituted after he was booed by his own fans during their 1-0 home win over rivals Besiktas.
