There should be no bias, when it comes to talent recognition. Politics aside. Talent has no bias. If you are talented, you should be recognised by all irrespective of the platform the talent is exhibited.

Like facial beauty, a beautiful voice will travel deep into the abyss of the soul to bring back goose pimples. This was what this voice from a little girl between the ages of 11 and 14 did for me this afternoon when I tuned in to Channels TV watch the PDP rally .

I couldn’t help it. I had goose pimples  I didn’t want it to finish when she sang a rendition of Westlife’s ‘You Raised Me Up’. I had to tweet and post messages requesting Channels TV to make a standalone video available

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h1vgzhCNOo

The world needed to listen to this little girl’s voice over and over again. I am yet to know her name. So if you do, kindly make it available so we may recognise her by name.

Enough of me. Posted below is the voice of the little girl in Uyo, Nigeria. Over to you Don Jazzy. What are you waiting for. Sign her up asap.

Topic: I’m Waiting Till 32 To Have A Relationship - Lola Rae (Read 2621 times)

UK-based Nigerian Singer, Lola Rae, is back in the country. The singer, 24, made a gallant entry into the music scene in November 2012 with her debut singles, Watch My Ting Go and High featuring Bridge (of L.O.S.), before going off the radar. Here is an excerpt from her interview.............

You’ve been away for about 18 months; what happened?
It’s not quite 18 months, and really I’ve been going back and forth, I’ve been doing more of performances at gigs and my last song was released in May 2014.

What have you been doing since then?
Well, I’ve had a whole team change. I’m now with Twenty 20 media, I needed a new management team and luckily Kamal Ajiboye (Davido’s manager) came to the rescue and we’ve been re-branding, recording new songs, working on new materials and creating a new sound for the industry.

Now that you are back, what has changed?
A lot has changed; my new songs are quite different from what people are used to. It’s more current, it’s more hard-hitting and I’m having fun with it now as against when I took it too serious, back then the my sound was too serious. Now I just do my own sound and it’s not easy to put it in a specific genre.
I’m working with more producers now and I’m really excited, I’ll be in the studios soon with Shizzi and possibly Legendary Beats. This year I intend to be more consistent because that’s what I’ve lacked in the past, there’ll be more collabos, more videos so you’ll see me more.

Why did you sign a management deal with Twenty 20 media?
I never wanted to be under a record label because I just don’t want to be prohibited from doing things or not really have a say in my own projects, because most times these record label guys have no idea about music or music business, they’ll just sit down and give orders because they have money.
So I wanted a situation where I’ll be with someone that really understands music, understands the industry and the business angle of it, and that’s what Twenty 20 media brings. I’ve seen Kamal at work before and I see how he handles Davido’s projects, he’s a fantastic manager, and very professional especially in crazy circumstances.

Is there a plan for an album this year?
I think I’ll want to release an album next year not this year, there are lots of plans already for this year, and I pray everything goes to plan.

Do you feel threatened by other female acts especially now that you are making a return to the industry?
I don’t think anyone needs to feel threatened, because the industry is already hard enough for female artistes so we should be united and support each other and not feel threatened. The guys don’t feel threatened, so why should we feel threatened?

Which of the female acts will you like to work with?
I will like to work with all of them. Already I worked with Tiwa Savage on the African rising project, I think Seyi Shay is amazing too.

Away from music, how would you describe your personality?
I’m extremely shy and I’m a very quiet person. Though when I’m on stage, I get very crazy and I’m very energetic, but I’m not like that in real life. Most times people that know me come to me and say, ‘wow, I didn’t know you could do that’. I’m very family-oriented and I love music so much.

If music had not worked out for you, what else would you have done?
Somehow I would have worked in the music industry someway somehow, either as a manager, show promoter or something close. I’ve always wanted to do music and while I was in university I studied fashion but deep down I felt fashion is not what I really wanted to do, music is what I love.
Even though fashion and music go hand in hand, but regardless I abandoned fashion for music and I’m so happy I did.

Have you ever thought of quitting music?
Yes, especially for female artistes. There are so much trials and tribulations, there are certain things that you can’t say or do back to people even when they step on your toes because you have to be polite and maintain a certain level of decorum.

Are you married?
No, I’m not. I’m still young, I’ll be 24 next week, I can’t be married already, I should be getting married like 30-32 thereabouts.

Are you in a relationship?
Right now the only relationship I have is with Twenty 20 media.

What happened to your last relationship?
Honestly I don’t know. You know relationships are very political, sometimes you don’t even know what happens to them.

How would you describe your ideal man?
I’m not really based on looks, rather I’ll go for someone that can make me laugh. I can laugh at anything, and if you can just make me laugh, I swear I’ll be your best friend.

A lot of Nigerian albums dropped last year, which is your favourite?
Wow, there was quite a lot, but for me Olamide, Timaya, P-Square, Tuface and Wizkid’s album stood out for me.

Looking at your career now, would you say you are fulfilling it enough?
Not at all, I still have so much more to do. I want to be a trailblazer in the industry, there’s a lot of things planned.

Topic: I Live Well With What I Have, I Don't Feel Poor - World Poorest President[Photo] (Read 6057 times)

He lives on a farm, and his official car is a 1987 Volkswagen Beetle. He donates 90% of his monthly salary to charity. President of Uruguay, Jose Mujica, is not your average president.

It is commonplace to see some presidents of countries living lavish lifestyles, and in some extreme cases, looting their countries’ finances for personal gain. But not Mujica.

He is commonly known as the world’s “poorest” president because of his austere lifestyle.

Mujica rejected the luxurious presidential residence the government provided for him and instead opted to live on his wife’s farm located on a dirt road outside the country’s capital. They have no domestic workers – they do all the farm work by themselves. The only staff they have are two police officers.

In 2010, his annual personal wealth declaration – mandatory for officials in Uruguay – was $1,800, the value of his Beetle.

In an interview with BBC, he said:

“I’ve lived like this most of my life, I can live well with what I have

I’m called ‘the poorest president’, but I don’t feel poor. Poor people are those who only work to try to keep an expensive lifestyle, and always want more and more.

This is a matter of freedom. If you don’t have many possessions then you don’t need to work all your life like a slave to sustain them, and therefore you have more time for yourself…”

Mujica also has unique views about poverty alleviation. In the 2012 Rio+20 summit he stated:

But what are we thinking? Do we want the model of development and consumption of the rich countries? I ask you now: what would happen to this planet if Indians would have the same proportion of cars per household than Germans? How much oxygen would we have left?

“Does this planet have enough resources so seven or eight billion can have the same level of consumption and waste that today is seen in rich societies? It is this level of hyper-consumption that is harming our planet.

An Arab sheikh recently offered him $1 million for his Beetle. Mujica is currently considering the offer, and says that if he does sell it, he will donate the money to charity.

Topic: Boko Haram Is Planning Attacks On Rallies Using Cows, Chickens - NOA, DSS (Read 571 times)

Boko Haram is planning to attack soft targets such as Automated Teller Machine (ATM) points, markets and political rallies, using bombs hidden in cows, goats and chickens.

Mike Omeri, Director-general of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and coordinator of the national information centre, who made the revelation, advised Nigerians to be circumspect. He also disclosed that the insurgents had perfected plans to unleash suicide bombers, who would disguise as cobblers and hide explosives in their boxes, on Nigerians. Omeri added that action was being taken to scuttle the plans of the terror group. He said:

“Available intelligence reports indicate a plan by Boko Haram to use young male suicide bombers disguised as cobblers (shoemakers) to hide explosives in their tool boxes and detonate them in soft target areas such as markets, restaurants, ATM locations, political rallies, worship centres, as well as other public places. Also there is indication of a plan by this group to use livestock (such as goats, cows, donkeys and camels) laden with explosives to attack chosen targets. In view of these, the general public, including all persons operating within and around the aforementioned places, is advised to be vigilant and mindful of suspicious activities within their environment.”

Marilyn Ogar, spokesperson of the Department of State Services, (DSS) who was also at the press conference, said that relevant government agencies had since been informed of the development and steps were being taken to stop the terrorists.

“We have regular interactions with the relevant bodies and we have briefed them of the intelligence,” she said.

Omeri also revealed that 192 persons released by Boko Haram in January were currently receiving counseling at a military facility in Yobe state.

“The centre wishes to confirm that the persons recently released by Boko Haram are presently in the custody of military authorities. Authoritatively, we can sate that these persons are currently undergoing counselling after which they will return home to re-join their kith and kin,” he said.

Earlier on today, A mail was received from a TILB reader that this man, pictured below, committed suicide this morning by jumping into the Lagos lagoon.

The man, who has now been reportedly identified as Ezebu Joseph, had stopped a moving bus on Third Mainland bridge and jumped into the lagoon this morning before 8 a.m. He had opened the door with force and told the driver to stop and then jumped into the lagoon.

The location was after Iyana Oworo, my reader says. Very strange and truly sad. The man was later brought out and people are now calling for the permanent closure of the bridge as it's fast becoming the favorite suicide spot of Lagos. See the graphic photo below.

Topic: 10 Years Old Boy Freed By Kidnappers Because He Repeatedly Sang Gospel Songs (Read 1230 times)

This incident happened last year, however; many are still talking about it.

A 10-year-old African-American boy named Willie Myrick (he was 9 at the time) was kidnapped from the front yard of his guardians’ Atlanta home by an unidentified man in March 2014, after luring him with money Independent UK reports.

Myrick’s captor forced him to enter into his vehicle, and began a 3-hour journey to an unidentified destination.

During the ride, Myrick repeatedly sang popular gospel song, “Every Praise” by Hezekiah Walker.

His captor reportedly got extremely irate and kept cursing at the boy, telling, him to stop singing, but Myrick ignored him and continued to sing for three hours straight.

Exasperated, the kidnapper let Myrick out of his car unharmed, in the East Point area. Overjoyed to be free, he then ran to his godmother Codetta’s house, as she lived close by.

Speaking on his ordeal, Myrick said “If you praise the Lord he will help you in mysterious ways.”

According to CBN, he was raised by atheist parents but his godmother frequently took him to church where his passion for God was born and grew strongly.

“Faith is important to this house and believing in God is important… I said, ‘In this house we go to church.’ He knows God. He knows Jesus,” Codetta said.

When he heard the news, Walker traveled from New York to Atlanta to see the boy.

“It’s just emotional to me because you never know who you’re going to touch…I just wanted to hug him and tell him I love him…I really believe that God spoke through me to save that young man’s life.”

Here’s the music video for the song, “Every Praise.”
Topic: Boko Haram Spokesman, Abu Musab Abul-Barnawi Reveals Why Sect Overran Baga (Read 2985 times)

A certain Abu Musab Abul-Barnawi, who identified himself as the spokesman of the extremist Boko Haram sect, has stated in an unusual video clip shot in a TV studio that the reason Baga was seized by his group after repeated attacks was for strategic economic reasons.
The character in the TV studio, believed to be the official communication channel for the sect, disclosed that his group does not intend to surrender the seized Nigerians territories which they have made their “Islamic Caliphate”.
Abul-Barnawi, who wore a black canvass mask over his face as he faced an interviewer, whose face was equally masked, explained that his group only attack those that stand against the cause of his group as well as those that promote or ‘worship’ democracy and westernization.
He disclosed that the sect would very soon open up the seized communities and allow all those who approach them in repentance and ask for forgiveness to live their normal lives without any interference.
When the interviewer asked the spokesman to butress why Baga is strategic to Boko Haram activities, he explained: “First, this city is located in the northeast of Nigeria, in the vicinity of Lake Chad. It is important from both the trade and military aspects for the Nigerian government. As for its military importance to the Nigerian government, it has an alliance with the countries of Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. It is an alliance against our project to establish a State of Shariah, and it is an alliance to control Lake Chad, which is considered the most important economic resource in the region. As for us, its importance lies in removing this military gathering from the lands of the Islamic State, and thus, to establish the Shariah of Allah in this area, and provide security and safety for the Muslims in it.
“It is known that if these military gatherings enter an area they will corrupt it and oppression will prevail in it. By the grace of Allah alone, we were able to open this city and to include it with the cities of the Islamic State in Africa. The land is for Allah and he will bequeath it to whomever he wills from among his worshippers, and the good end is for the pious. Allah knows better,”
Abul-Barnawi said.
Accusing the media of distorting the name of his group, he said “Praise be to Allah, the media is changing much of the facts and spreading lies, especially the media outlets that are controlled by the tyrants, when the matter is related to the mujahedeen. It is the one that wages the distortion campaigns against the actions and words of the mujahedeen, and if there was no response to them, the truth would be confused with falsehood. Therefore, we say that we did not name ourselves ‘Boko Haram’.
“Our call is not limited to prohibiting foreign schools and democracy. We are Jama’at Ahl al-Sunnah Lil Dawa wal Jihad. Therefore, this name (Boko Haram) is an attempt to bury the truth. We carry out the support for the Sunnah and establish governance of Allah in the land.
“As for those accusing us of shedding Muslim blood, this is unreal and Allah bears witness to that. How can we fight them while we fight for their sake? When we entered the city there was the so-called carriers of the Catodqora stick, who cooperated with the soldiers of the tyrant and carried their weapons and stood by their side. So we fought who we fought. They know they fought us. When they saw our severity they escaped from the city and some of them rode into the sea and some of them went into the forest. However, we send this message to those who fought us or did not fight us: Whoever from among them comes to us in repentance, we accept their repentance and he shall have safety and security from us, because we are people”.

When asked how members of the public with no access to the internet will be assured of their safety when they ask for repentance from the group, Abul-Barnawi said “this could be achieved by many ways such as putting out leaflets and also posting them on the internet
“If some of them come in repentance, we send them back to his brothers to inform them and to come in repentance. The best proof for that is the cities we have entered such as Mubi, Damaturu, and Fika. In these cities we did not cause harm to anyone, because they did not fight us. We fought those who fought us. If they stop their assault on us we will stop our assault on them. If you are not with us, do not be against us. We want to take the worshipers out of worshiping worshipers to worshiping the Lord of the worshipers, and from the oppression of religions to the justice of Islam, and from the narrowness of this world to the vastness of this world and the hereafter.”

When asked whether the group would stop attacking innocent civilians in the course of raiding community, the spokesperson said: “Yes, this is for all the cities. For example, the people of Baga know they fought us and when we went to them they escaped and many from among the people of the cities did not fight us. Therefore, let them not escape from the city if we enter. For example, the people of Mubi and Damaturu welcomed our arrival and they invoked Allah in the streets. We see much of that. Therefore, we advised them to repent and to return safely to their homes and to stand with us to repel this crusader project which the crusader, deceitful Nigerian government imposed on the people, may Allah’s curse be upon it”.
Abul-Barnawi, in his final remarks, warned the allied forces of Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and members of the Civilian JTF, to desist from attacking them or face more attacks.
“Otherwise, just as you fight us we will fight you. We will inflame against you a war of which you have not before tasted its bitterness.
“And finally, we say to whoever speaks about us in the media outlets and claims they are mujahideen and they speak in their name: Stop the evil of your tongues and do not say anything that is unclear to you. If they want to speak, then let them hear from us and not hear about us,”
he said.

Topic: Buhari Finally Avoids Participating In The BON Presidential Debate [See Reasons] (Read 1440 times)

APC says it's presidential candidate Gen Buhari will not be participating in the presidential debate being organized by the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria BON and the Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG) .

In a statement released today January 29th by Garna Shehu, the Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO), they said Buhari will not be participating in the debate as the composition of those organizing the debate was mainly of agencies and allies of the incumbent People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) administration. Continue...

The statement reads in part;

Quote
“A cursory inspection of the composition of NEGD brings into focus the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), National Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Africa Independent Television (AIT, owned by a PDP chieftain). And going by the avalanche of inflammatory statements, misinformation and blatant lies being propagated by some of these media against our Party and candidates contrary to the Kofi Annan brokered Abuja Peace Accord, and the failure of these aggressors to desist and apologise, have left the APC Campaign with no option than to steer clear of any premeditated smear campaign that could be inimical to our prospective electoral success,” .

Topic: Many Entertainers Run After Politicians As A Result Of Poverty - Saidi Balogun (Read 721 times)

Saidi Balogun says entertainers run after politicians these days because of poverty. The popular actor told Encomium Magazine
Quote
“(Poverty), that’s why you see some of our people running helter-skelter, campaigning for all these politicians. But there’s one question we have all not asked, and that’s what makes American artists donate to politicians while the actors here in Nigeria are asking from politicians. Every member of the National Assembly has not made an reasonable law on piracy which has devoured the industry. So, there’s poverty in the industry. If there’s not, you won’t see our people flocking around all these politicians, campaigning, singing and dancing for them. I saw a candidate being surrounded by some of our colleagues; I now said to myself, ‘if this man eventually wins, how many actors or musicians will he remember? Although some are doing it to make ends meet. And it’s sad because we’re stars. I think we’re supposed to be worshiped, not worshiping others. Even if a governor holds your hand, he’s supposed to be happy. But now, the reverse is the case.”

Do you agree?

Topic: TRENDING: Pastor Adeboye Endorses Osinbajo In Presence Of Goodluck Jonathan (Read 1647 times)

So this actually happened last year but the video is currently trending. The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has not publicly endorsed any politician. But in a video that was filmed last year February, during his visit to the Olive Tree parish of the church that had Prof. Yemi Osinbajo the current APC vice presidential candidate as its pastor, Pa Adeboye is heard showering praises on Osinbajo.

Adeboye was commenting on the fact that he had not visited the church since he posted Osinbajo to head it. That the last time he was in the church, it was when the former pastor was around. He said:

“You know usually with your friends, you take them for granted. You want to rush to where there might be trouble spots. But when you know that there’s no problem here, you tend to forget. But once in a while, you need to know that your friend needs fellowship.

Some of you might be thinking, maybe he didn’t come because he doesn’t like the new man. I didn’t come because I trust him, because he’s a wonderful child of God. Very wonderful child of God. Absolutely reliable. He’s one of the few Christians, one of the few sons I have that if you give him an assignment, you can go to sleep. By the time you wake up, it will be done.”

Coincidentally, Nigeria’s president Goodluck Jonathan was also at that service and APC supporters believe it's more than just a coincidence. See the video below
