Topic: Jonathan Plotting To Postpone Elections 'Cos Buhari Fills Him With Terror – APC (Read 1847 times)

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the call by the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, for the postponement of next month’s general elections, which he said would give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), more time to distribute all Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs). According to the party, nothing must affect the date of the elections.

In a statement in Abuja, Thursday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the APC said that the call by Col. Dasuki, during an event at the Chatham House in London on Thursday, showed it had been the Jonathan Administration’s plot all along, to push for the postponement of the polls.

“Now that we have found the smoking gun, we are urging the international community, in particular, to urgently extract a commitment from President Goodluck Jonathan that the elections will hold as scheduled next month, and that he would respect the outcome, just as we have said,” the party said.

Dasuki, according to the APC, was only seeking to buy time for the sluggish Jonathan electioneering campaign to gather pace. “They know for sure that if they don’t postpone the elections, there is no way they can win. They are just terrified,” the APC said.

The party therefore called on Nigerians to reject in its entirety, the ongoing orchestrated plot by the Jonathan Administration to postpone the elections. He noted that the constitutional that may follow such postponement is capable of undermining the nation’s democracy.

“After realizing it will be rejected by Nigerians who have borne the brunt of its mis-governance over the years, after realizing that its campaign of calumny against our presidential candidate has failed, the Jonathan Administration has now started to play its last card, which is the postponement of the election,” it said.

Topic: My Achievements In Six Years – President Jonathan (Read 2656 times)

Ahead of the presidential election which holds on February 14, President Goodluck Jonathan has disclosed some of his achievements since he assumed office as the president of the country. He promised to do more.
Quote
“My dear friends on Facebook, in the following days and weeks, I would be reporting back to you on what I have done with the mandate you gave me four years ago. In many ways, I see you as a special constituency of mine because of the love and support you have shown me on this page since I came on Facebook on the 28th of June 2010,” he posted on his Facebook page.

“The Average Life Expectancy in Nigeria was 47 years in 2010. Five years down the line, working together, we have succeeded in increasing Nigeria’s Average Life Expectancy to 54 years as at today and climbing. And the government I head will not rest on its oars in improving all our health indices to make sure that Nigerians not only live longer lives, but that we live better quality lives.

“And unity is our tool in this regard. The type of unity with which Nigeria defeated the Ebola Virus Disease will be harnessed for use in tackling the challenges in our health sector. Already, we are equipping and upgrading facilities in our teaching hospitals and many are carrying out surgeries they never could, because of equipment.

“Only last year, the United Nations certified Nigeria Guinea Worm free. I am reliably informed that not before long, we will also be certified free of the Wild Polio Virus.

“This is progress. This is Transformation. This is ‪#‎ForwardNigeria GEJ,” the post read.

President Jonathan noted that education is the foundation for the consistent growth of the nation. He therefore pledged the commitment of his administration to the growth of the sector.

“Education is the only foundation that can ensure the consistent growth of a nation. I have always believed that a nation will not become great by the minerals under her ground. Such will only come by developing the human resources of the country.

“When I came on board in 2010, Jigawa, Katsina, Gombe, Nasarawa, Kogi, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Ekiti, Taraba, Yobe, Kebbi and Zamfara had no Federal University. During my 2011 presidential campaigns, I promised to establish at least one university in these states.

“This is the year 2015 and I have kept my word. Each of those states now has a Federal University. In addition, this administration has built 125 Almajiri schools to cater for our valued children who were outside the formal education system.

“Experts have said that where education increases, fatalities reduces and it is no surprise to the Federal Government that our infant and maternal mortality rates have dropped considerably as our investments in education has increased.

“We will not stop there. Having substantially tackled access to education, our ongoing efforts to improve quality will be intensified. Education is key to our advancement, and we will do this only with your help and cooperation.”

Jonathan further wrote: “When I came into office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the 6th of May 2010, I met a moribund railway system and I vowed to myself that this vital infrastructure will be revived as it offered the most inexpensive mode of transportation for our people.

“Today, four years later, I am pleased to report to you that our railways are back on track. Our people can now take the Lagos-Kano service for only N1, 930 and the Port Harcourt-Enugu service for only N300.

“I was pleased to read a comment on my page from Oraye St. Franklyn, who took a ride on the Port Harcourt-Enugu service of the Nigerian Railway Corporation. He expressed his delight as a parent that his children had entered a train in Nigeria for the first time in their lives.

“And we are not stopping here. This administration just completed the tracks for the Abuja-Kaduna Standard Gauge Railway. Plans have reached an advanced stage for a new rail-line from Lagos to Calabar and another between Ibadan and Lagos.

“Our plan, which we intend to bring to fruition with your support, is to link every commercial and administrative capital in Nigeria by rail thereby bringing our people closer. We must continue to strengthen the bond of our union,”
assured Jonathan.

My Dear Francis,

I hope it is ok to call you by your papal name; this is only because I feel so close to you. You have captured my heart with your simplicity, humanity, humility and love.

The first 25yrs of my life was filled with dreams of becoming a priest, having been stuffed with an overdose of religion, a very serious matter in my family.  When I turned 16, I became an altar boy, never missed Bible class or the regular confessions. My late father was a Knight of the Catholic Church. That’s where I’m coming from.

We were a family that prayed together, staunch Catholics for that matter.

Pope Francis

Being an adventurous young man however, I dabbled into the occult, metaphysics, Buddhism, astrology, magic and all that jazz; but be that as it may, I still, am fundamentally a Catholic. The Catholic fate had suddenly become boring and old fashioned for me. Well, until you came along.

In 2013, I wrote an article on you titled A BULLET FOR THE POPE, which was published on social media. In that piece, I expressed my fears and concerns about your life and safety. You bravely and boldly took on the Mafia, knowing that there were still pockets of vampires, fraudsters, and criminals in the Vatican. The Vatican under your watch, honoured Rev Giuseppe Puglisi, who was killed over 20yrs ago by mobsters for preaching against the Mafia, now a martyr. You demanded that Mafia members abandon their “evil ways”.

And I wondered… what if the Mafia decides to take you “out” for sweating their business, knowing their infiltration is deep in the Vatican?
You have shown to be true, the saying that the only thing needed for evil to thrive is for good men to do nothing.
I am very glad and pleased that you are doing something. It is clear that you possess a beautiful spiritual light burning inside of you.I recognize your effort in trying to bring a better image and name to Catholicism. No matter how anybody wishes to flip it, you are full of surprises, born of true and faithful humility; it sparks of Charlyboyizim.

Francis, I am head over heels in love with your person, you are my Rock Star.
I saw you in The Philippines rocking the world again after Brazil, through the CNN lens. The World has fallen in love with you: is it Jews, Moslems, Atheists, Punks, Monks? In short, nothing is stranger, ever since you came onboard, than the reactions of evangelicals all over the world. Never before in history has a Pope been so widely accepted by Protestants and evangelicals, Muslims, Buddists, non-believers, all and sundry.
Thank God, it is a proud day for Catholics and all mankind.
Finally, we have a Pope who doesn’t see himself as equal to God, a Pope who abandoned the red shoes (that were never an official part of the papal wardrobe anyway): a Pope who dresses modestly, pays his own lodging bills, drives around Vatican City in a Ford Focus, calls many people on the phone, brings jam sandwiches to on-duty Swiss Guards at his door and invites street people to his birthday breakfast. Haba, how far my guy.

The way you embrace and kiss babies, embrace the sick, disfigured broken bodies and the abandoned of society. You are one world leader who speaks the truth to power, walks his talk, and calls idolatry and greed by their real names. You are a bold and courageous shepherd who lifts up the poor and tells us that if they are not part of our lives, then we are a sad and even doomed lot. Just like Francis of Assisi did in his day.
You spent time on your knees washing the feet of young women incarcerated in prisons; first time ever that a Pope would wash the feet of women, not to mention that some of them were Moslems. Hummm, a bloody break in papal tradition.

Last year you unequivocally said that the “door is closed,” on women’s ordination, a statement that I’m sure disappointed many Catholic liberals. You however reiterated that it doesn’t mean the church should consider women as secondary or inferior; that “the feminine genius is needed wherever we make important decisions. Women are asking deep questions that must be addressed, and the church cannot be herself without the woman and her role.” Gbam! Na you talk am.
I remember when you were a mere Bishop in Buenos Aires, you received letters from gays and lesbians who said they were “socially wounded” by the church, and in an interview you answered, “But the Church does not want to do this,”

I recall also, your visit to Brazil, when asked your opinion about Gays and you gave them a beautiful one liner. “Who am I to judge gay people?”

Simply put, you blow my mind each and every time! Kai!

The world is sick; selfishness, sadness, meanness, vengeance, terror and harshness seem to have the upper hand, and we need the message of Christmas which you preach all year round: goodness, joy, kindness, mercy and the tenderness of our God.

There is this childlike unflinching freedom that allows you to do what you do because you are so unafraid and totally free to be yourself  at the same time. I know because it takes one to know one.
You are such a faithful son of the Church.
I see how you want the church to be an instrument of reconciliation and welcome, a church that is capable of warming hearts, a church that is not bent over on herself but always seeking those on the periphery and those who are lost, a church capable of leading people home to God.
We need the Francis’ revolution of tenderness and mercy now more than ever before.
More than anyone in my lifetime, Pope Francis, you have given me a powerful, luminous glimpse into the mind and heart of God. Thank you.
    Thank you again!
    Best Regards,
    CharlyBoy (AREAFADA)

Nollywood star actress, Monalisa Chinda, has thrown her weight behind the battle to safeguard the health of Nigerian women, especially those suffering from Uterine Fibroid.
We learnt that the beautiful actress, through her Arise Monalisa Foundation, is collaborating with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, at creating awareness, and sensitizing the populace and sponsoring treatment of affected women across the country.
“It is in giving our lives away that we find meaning. We appreciate NAFDAC for this strategic partnership as we look forward to propagating awareness of this fast spreading yet widely neglected uterine fibroid, which has become very common among women due to ignorance and stigmatization,” said Monalisa during her visit to NAFDAC’s headquarters in Abuja recently.
Dr. Paul Orhii, Director General, NAFDAC, in his response, expressed the agency’s delight  in working with Monalisa and her foundation.
In the last eight years, Monalisa has been supporting major autism campaign cause; funding education for the less privileged, visiting orphanages and prisons, while this year, she has chosen to embark on the Uterine Fibroid Project.

Quote
Just sitting here gazing at a picture of a boy I know but now gone because of an illness that would have been managed. The thought of his lifeless body brings me so much pain and sadness and it is not because I was close to him nor that I cared so much about him but just a mere reflection of how wicked the world is, the extent we go just to hide our pain to avoid being a laughing stock,Gossip item, abused, bullied on social medias and even betrayed by some trusted friends & even our socalled Families**

Oh yes that is the awful world we live in,We develop thick skin because we re betrayed almost everyday by people we love and trust so now we try to go through the difficult and trying times alone without sharing with anyone or letting them know what we re going through.
Be a Neighbor and a friend that really cares, try and be trustworthy in this wicked and heartless world. I know that there are some good people out there, where re they? We all can’t be evil na,let’s show others hope, love and reason to live again,a tree can’t make a forest,we need each other in one way or the other.

HE WAS A SHINING STAR AND THUS YOU WILL THINK HE WILL HAVE TRUE FRIENDS OR A TRUE FRIEND TO LEAN ON AT DIFFICULT TIMES.

Its quite sad that I can’t trust anyone with my pain and anytime I wake up I think about death,I think about the freedom and peace that comes when i am gone from the world of hate, betrayal, deceit,Greed,Jealous,anger,Revenge.. I can only wish there is life after death, life that will be void of bad things we have experienced in this current life….May the soul of Muna and the souls we have lost so far Rest in perfect peace..Amen
Topic: Ex-militants Reject Jonathan, Back Buhari For Presidency (Read 6902 times)

Ahead of the February 14 presidential poll, some South-South ex-militant commanders in Edo State yesterday declared their support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd).
They also lauded the leadership of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta for endorsing Buhari, maintaining that the group (MEND) made the right choice.
The ex-militants told newsmen in Benin, the Edo State capital, that their position was in line with the expectations and hope of Nigerians for positive change and development, particularly, the development of the Niger Delta region.

The spokesperson for the group, Mr. Godwin Ogidigba, explained that the ex-agitators had implicit confidence in the ability of Buhari, whom he said, was capable of addressing the major challenges affecting various communities in the region, which were yet to be addressed by the present administration.
He said, “In recent publications in the dailies, you see MEND endorsing Buhari. People thought it was a joke. It is not. The fact remains that we need somebody that can address the salient issues that affect the Niger Delta region.
“Our brother has failed in those issues; our brother has failed to take us away from poverty, our brother has failed to bring development to the Niger Delta region.
“Just take a look at most of the Niger Delta communities. They still remain where they are, in spite of the fact that we have one of our own at the top, at the helm of affairs, nothing positive has changed in the region.”

Ogidigba argued that their choice of Buhari had nothing to do with religion or ethnicity but centred on their desire for unity in the country.
Ogidigba said, “Somebody who can stand and develop our region, that should be our interest and that is our interest. It is true that President Goodluck Jonathan is from the South-South region; he is our brother.

Topic: One Killed, Five Vehicles Burnt As Jonathan Campaigns In Kano (Read 5354 times)

One person was yesterday confirmed dead and five vehicles burnt in a clash involving thugs loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Party, APC, in Kano State.

Our correspondent gathered that the clash occurred as President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign train stormed the Polo Ground in continuation of the party’s re-election bid in February.

It was learnt that thugs brandished dangerous weapons during the clash; moments after President Jonathan started his campaign.

Police Command spokesman, Magaji Musa Majia, an ASP, confirmed the incident and loss of life, including destruction of five vehicles.

Majia added that the police were investigating the incident to ascertain the cause.

The clash is coming on the heels of the presence of presidential candidates of the two dominant parties in the state.

The APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, was in Kano on Tuesday and yesterday, he also addressed journalists on the allegation that he did not have the requisite qualification to contest for the presidency.

Meanwhile, Jonathan was welcomed to Kano by a large crowd of supporters, even as the president used the occasion to felicitate with people of the state over the emergence of Muhammad Sanusi as new emir.

Thousands of PDP supporters had thronged the venue of the campaign rally as early as 9am, with traffic gridlock on major routes.

Speaking at the rally, Jonathan urged the people to cast their votes for his party, noting that the emergence of Mallam Salihu Takai, as governorelect would pave the way to further elevate the commercial viability of the state.

He stated that the people and city of Kano are renowned for commercial activities and agriculture, adding that voting for the PDP at all levels would boost the commercial and agrarian activities of the state.

The controversial leader of the Boko Haram terror group Abubakar Shekau on Tuesday declared the duo of President Goodluck Jonathan and his 2015 arch-rival, Muhammadu Buhari as infidels who cannot rule Nigeria. He declared that the war he is waging would soon bring democracy to an end.

Mr. Shekau who spoke in a 36 minutes video released via youtube also warned that more killings and attacks would be recorded in the days to come as he boasted that the quantum of ammunition his group has so far seized from the Nigerian army especially in Baga would be enough to prosecute a war against Nigeria.

The man whom Nigeria military authority had declared dead on three occasions in the last two years said his group would soon bring Nigeria to its knees and warned the governments of the neighbouring countries, comprising of Chad, Cameroon and Niger of similar attacks. Mr. Shekau who appeared in the video standing in front of three patrol jeeps mounted with anti-air assault guns was dressed in his usual military khaki with an AK47 hanging from his shoulder across his chest.

He delivered his long speech, first in Arabic which lasted for 17 minutes and then in Hausa for about seven minutes. He ended his speech by burning a Nigerian flag, and replacing it with his group’s flag that had a black background and white inscription.

It’s been reported that the Islamic State of Levant or ISIS have executed 13 teenage football fans for watching the Iraq vs Jordan match in the ongoing Asian Cup tournament being held in Australia. This cold-blooded and horrifying death sentence took place on Monday, 20th January in the town of Mosul, Iraq, which was taken over by ISIS last year. It was also reported that the parents dare not request for the bodies  of their executed sons for fear of being shot too.

The video clip also showed the executioner murder the boys as they laid in a hollowed ground with their head facing down.

People ask why we bother with politics is there anything funnier than it now? Lol. Spokesperson of the PDP Presidential campaign organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode has called on the APC Presidential candidate, Gen Buhari to withdraw from the presidential race following the controversy surrounding the latter's academic qualification. He made this call yesterday while addressing newsmen in Abuja

Quote
"Information reaching us now has shown that the Presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed today (yesterday) in Kano at a press conference that the affidavit he swore to in which he claimed that his credentials were in the custody of the military was not true after all. The implication of the action of this so-called “Mr Clean” is nothing but perjury and we all know that this is a grave criminal offense under our laws and constitution.

We urge Buhari and his party to do the right thing and tender an unreserved apology to the Nigerian people, throw in the towel and report to the nearest police station for interrogation and prosecution. Anything less than that would be an insult to the collective intelligence and integrity of the Nigerian people. We also urge the Nigerian Armed Forces to consider the possibility of stripping him of his rank and privileges given the fact that he was never qualified to join the Nigerian Army as a commissioned officer in the first place because he never had the prerequisite qualification which was a school certificate. Given this, at best Buhari should never have been anything more than a non-commissioned officer.”

Charles Novia Defends Muna's Secret Habit

I never really met him nor knew him personally but I admired his acting skills onscreen whenever I watched the movies he featured in. He was an actor who had a panache beyond comparison in many of his roles. I always thought he was damned good.

That he is dead is a sad reality. That he died at all when he lived and still lives in our hearts and on our screens is the painful jolt to our systems. Because in Nollywood, actors (and good ones too, in Muna’s mould) never really die. They only transcend to another place where, perhaps, the ovation they receive over there gives lasting peace to their souls.

What can one really say about Muna? I never knew much about him and perhaps many people did not as well. He seemed to live a life less glimpsed in personal details than that more appreciated on the television screens. He seemed to me to be a recluse.

And I might be wrong here but when one reads his body language with the benefit of hindsight, one could begin to piece together a deliberate insulation by the gifted actor from the public eye. And there is nothing wrong with that. Many talented creatives all over the world are like that. But Muna’s case stands out because it seemed like our nosey and sensational entertainment press just could not get anything on him. There were few stories or scandals about him and more reviews about his body of work which is quite the hallmark of an artiste who exploits a mystique around him.

He kept his life private and perhaps, that privacy was as much a tragic flaw as it was a commendable decision, depending on how one views it. He shunned selfies and self-serving instagram posts about material acquisitions. He could well have lied, as most of his colleagues do about his material wealth, just to ‘belong’. But he kept it real. He did. I respect that.

I have read some reports on his death online and while the veracity of such is yet to be final on my part, there were tales of his battle with Kidney Disease for a few years and his weekly Dialysis treatments which he hid from the public all these years and known only to his close family. It was reported that he shunned all entreaties by those in the know to raise funds for him through a public appeal and preferred to plan a stage show which would have helped him out of the medical financial demands. If that was indeed true, it was quite unfortunate. Because I believe there would be few souls who would not have donated to a Save Muna fund, if only to help in giving the actor a second lease of life.

Other reports say that he was a heavy drinker of hard liquor and smoked a lot and there were assertions that these must have caused his health issues. There’s nothing much to say about that. Artistes generally imbibe in habits which act as a counterbalance to the demands of their jobs. How a man smokes and drinks should not be anyone’s worries. It is the self-moderation switch in the artiste which should be scrutinized when such happens rather than what he does in his leisure.

There was no doubt that Muna was a great actor. But he came across, to me, as one who had more of a brooding disposition all the time off camera than one with a happy mien. He was more of a mystery as a soft-spoken actor with a scowl and while that attribute in a better clime would have added to his personal brand power, over here it (that mystery about him) alienated him somehow from the fawning fans.

Muna was a damn good actor, really! And I do not think his death is a closing of the final curtains of his act.

Do you agree in total with Charles Novia's justifications?

Topic: NOT AGAIN! President Jonathan Attacked By Angry Youths In Bauchi (Read 8143 times)

President Goodluck Jonathan's re-election campaign in Bauchi on Thursday turned violent when some thugs who converged at the Ibrahim Babangida Square, venue of the event, hurled shoes, plastic water bottles and other objects at the canopy where the president and members of his campaign team were delivering their speeches.

Although security operatives intervened to stop the thugs from disrupting the event, several vehicles coming out of the venue, belonging to the PDP presidential campaign team, were stoned while tyres were burnt.

The violent youth also clashed with security personnel deployed around Ran Road and the Bauchi central market where a police patrol van was set ablaze by irate youths.

The Police Public Relations Officers [PPRO], Bauchi State, Haruna Muhammed, confirmed the violence but promised to provide journalists with details later on.

Earlier in his address at the rally, Mr. Jonathan lambasted the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, accusing the party of instigating Nigerians against the ruling Peoples Democratic Party [PDP]-led government.

Mr. Jonathan challenged the APC to enumerate its achievements, and not seek cheap popularity.

He said that PDP stands for peace and that no retrogressive force can put the party behind.

Mr. Jonathan said his government has reduced the prevalence of polio virus in Bauchi State, and assured that before the end of the year, the virus will be completely eradicated in the whole nation.

He cautioned the youth against acts of violence during and after the election, saying if re-elected, he will invest in youth empowerment through micro small scale enterprise, agriculture and education.

According to Mr. Jonathan, "since oil is dwindling, we would embark on the excavation of the abundant solid minerals in Bauchi, so that indigenes of the state will be employable."

"If re-elected, I will ensure that I work with the governorship candidate to bring the dividend of democracy to Bauchi State," he said.

In his remarks, Vice-President Namadi Sambo cautioned politicians who are using religion and ethnicity to divide Nigerians to desist forthwith, stressing that Mr. Jonathan had no hatred whatsoever towards northerners, contrary to the falsehood being peddled by some politicians in the North.

"These politicians trying to use religion and ethnicity to divide Nigerians must stop. People are fabricating falsehood that Jonathan is discriminating against the North. I believe in equity and I don’t cheat people, I always ensure that projects are distributed equally across the country," he said.

He urged the people to ensure that they collect their Permanent Voters Cards to enable them vote in the election.

"Ensure that you collect your voter’s card because without it, you cannot exercise your franchise in the coming election," the vice president said.

State governors present at the event were Isa Yuguda, Bauchi; Ibrahim Dankwambo, Gombe; Goodwill Akpabio, Akwa Ibom.
