2007, West African Idol reality show star, Jerrilyn Mulbah, has revealed that being a single mother is the greatest problem a woman can ever face because she will not be accepted in the society.

According to the now on-air-personality in an Abuja based radio station, We 106.3 FM, stated that every single mum in the society is fighting two battles at the same time, which is her being accepted by the society and the people who want to take advantage of her not necessarily be¬cause they want to help her.

The OAP while speaking with Sun newspaper, disclosed being a single mother made her planned wedding to be cancelled because she was not accepted by her husband to be father for being a single mother.

“I had my wedding cancelled this year because I have a daughter; I am a single mum. The guy didn’t back out but his dad did. His dad said ‘you know what son; you cannot marry someone who already has a child.’ And so at the end of the day, we had to cancel the wedding; it is just one of those things. A lot of people have the impression that if you are a single mum you are promiscuous but I don’t think so. There are women who are single mums today because that is just what they want. For others it probably could be because they had a ter¬rible childhood or a divorce. And some may choose to be single probably because they were molested. There are many reasons a woman would want to be a single mum so it is wrong to judge them,” she explained.

Topic: Man Beheads Wife, Daughter And Commits Suicide In Ogun (Read 5214 times)


A 46-year-old farmer, Olubusayo Sunday, beheaded his wife and daughter, before taking his own life Wednesday in Onigbedu town in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, police said.

While confirming the incident on Thursday, the Ogun State Police Command said the incident has been traced to a dispute between the man and his late wife.
Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said investigations are ongoing.

“The man beheaded his wife and daughter in his Onigbedu house, and committed suicide by stabbing and setting himself ablaze after the ugly incident at about 1315hrs,” Mr. Adejobi said.

He said the man’s attempt to commit suicide was noticed when he stabbed himself and wanted to jump into a well near his house having set fire on himself. He was prevented and rescued by neighbours who later realized he had murdered his family.

The Command spokesman said after the rescue, the man was rushed to hospital where died.
Mr. Adejobi said statements made by the man before he died suggested there was a quarrel between the man and his wife, Oyewole Sunday, 40. Their daughter was three years old, police said.

The police added that a knife and one blood-stained cutlass, suspected to have been the murder weapons, were recovered from the house.

“The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, Ikemefuna Okoye, was taken aback when he received the report of the ugly incident and has directed that the matter be transferred to the department of criminal investigation Eleweran, Abeokuta for thorough investigation,” Mr. Adejobi said.

18 year Nigerian upcoming rapper named Isaiah Ekpaloba (pictured above) died on January 9th after he was stabbed in Wood Green, UK, after a fight with another teenager. Isaiah and a man named Jaydee Dorsett engaged in physical combat that involved the use of knifes on Friday afternoon and by the time they were done, the two young men suffered stab wounds. Isaiah took himself to the hospital to get treated but died shortly after. They later said his cause of death was shock, haemorrhage and a stab wound to the chest.

Jaydee, who was also taken to hospital for stab wounds, was arrested and has been charged with murder. He's currently on trial where he's claiming self defense.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Thursday announced that there has been unusual high mortality in two poultry farms and live bird markets in Kano and Lagos States, Punch reports.



It said samples forwarded to the National Veterinary Research Institute tested positive for H5 strain of Avian Influenza Virus, otherwise known as bird flu, adding that confirmatory samples were sent to the International Reference Laboratory in Padova, Italy, for further characterisation. Avian influenza, known informally as Avian flu or bird flu, refers to influenza caused by viruses adapted to birds. Influenza, commonly known as ‘flu’ is an infectious disease caused by the influenza virus. The ministry, in a statement, noted that it had taken some measures in the affected sites to contain the reported outbreaks.

 According to the FMARD, it had quarantined the infected premises and placed restriction of movement of poultry and poultry products into and out of areas around infected premises.

It said, “All state directors of veterinary services and the Federal Capital Territory, Poultry Association of Nigeria and other stakeholders have been informed and advised to be on alert with intensified bio-security measures to avert possible spread of the disease to other states.

“The World Organisation for Animal Health and Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resource and development partners have been appropriately notified in compliance with our statutory international obligations.”

It added that it had ensured immediate reactivation of all animal health component of the Emergency Preparedness Plan on bird flu for Nigeria, adding that the conduct of surveillance activities around infected areas to determine the level of spread of the disease was being undertaken.

FMARD said, “All stakeholders in the poultry industry are urged to enhance hygienic practices (bio-security measures) which include, but not limited to, regular disinfection, proper disposal of dead carcasses and poultry products and timely reporting of mortalities in poultry and other bird species to veterinary authorities.

“We wish to assure the public that, given our experiences in handling previous outbreaks and with your full cooperation in the implementation of containment measures, we are determined to contain this disease again within a short time. We will keep you informed as events unfold.”

A major disaster was averted yesterday at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony at the National Arcade in Abuja as one of the soldiers in the firing party mistakenly pointed his rifle at President Goodluck Jonathan’s direction.

According to Leadership, the incident happened immediately after the President and other top government officials took turns to lay wreaths at the foot of the monument of the Unknown Soldier in honour of Nigeria’s fallen heroes.

The incident which happened briefly saw presidential guards quickly form a human shield around the President when they noticed the soldier’s mistake to forestall tragedy.

Jonathan, who was in the middle of the two-row firing party was apparently unaware of the incident as he stood motionless after laying his wreaths.

During the traditional 21-gun salute, the lower part of the soldier’s rifle mistakenly got tucked in his uniform,  which prevented him from lifting the rifle to his shoulder level. This rifle tilted the posture of the soldier which caused the barrel and muzzle of the gun to turn towards Jonathan.

Sensing the danger, a plain clothed security agent standing behind the soldier quickly came to the soldier’s rescue by correcting the his posture and thereafter helped me in untangling what the lower sling swivel of the rifle from the his uniform.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested three suspected internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State - Okpekereke Timothy, Stanley Odjighere, and Teminor Karo.

The trio are part of a syndicate arrested over allegations of conspiracy, internet scam and stealing from one of the new generation banks to the tune of N806, 208,000.00 (Eight Hundred and Six Million Two Hundred and Eight Thousand Naira). Forty others are still at large.

The theft was perpetrated through a system glitch linked to the fraudsters, in which the bank suffered
a huge loss of more than N806, 208,000

The petitioner, who works in one of the new generation banks, alleged that a review of transactions involving the bank with Interswitch Nigeria limited revealed that the bank was not reimbursed for the transactions consummated on ATM terminals.


Confiscated property

He observed that while many of the transactions involved were failed transactions, the amounts involved were not reversed, and all the customers were seen to have withdrawn the cash amounting to the sum, on each day of the occasion it happened.

The EFCC has so far confiscated the following property, which are proceeds of the crime from the suspects who are all within the South-South zone: one uncompleted 59-room self contain hostel, a twin bungalow in Oghara, Delta State, one uncompleted hotel project, one bungalow with a swimming pool in Ughelli, a bungalow in Agbaro , one Toyota Venza 2010 model, two Toyota Solara cars 2010 model, two Toyota Camry cars, 2010 model and two Honda Accord cars, 2005 model. The suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are completed.

The reconciliatory visit of President Goodluck Jonathan was a tensed one as former president, Olusegun Obasanjo put him on the hot seat in his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta on Monday, according to Leadership Newspapers.

Flanked by the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and the founder of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, who were there as witnesses to the meeting on request of the Egba chief, asked him questions which he had earlier thrown up in his correspondence to Jonathan.

Questions from Obasanjo mother of all meetings with Jonathan include the five highlighted below.

The former president asked him to confirm if he did not agree to only run for one term, his slow action to tackling the Boko Haram menace when it was just budding despite warning, why he gave licence to Tompolo and Asari Dokubo to import arms under the names of their private companies and other issues.

He queried, “Tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,

 (1) Did you agree to run for only one term or not?

 (2) What did you tell me was your reason for not going after Boko Haram insurgents even when I told you this will boomerang?

(3) What happened to Nigeria’s external reserve and Sovereign Wealth Fund?

(4) Did you give licence to Niger Delta militants (Dokubo and Tompolo) to import arms in the name of their privately owned companies? If so, for what reason?

5) Did you not get correspondence from the United States consulate that a certain citizen named Buruji Kashamu is indicted for drug trafficking? Why did you appoint the same Kashamu as South West leader of PDP rather than hand him over to the US? And did the PDP give automatic Senate ticket to a wanted and convicted drug baron?

There was a deadly robbery incident that happened in Ikare, Ondo state on Tuesday January 13th; I brought you two photos but now I have more pics and details from the attack that left as many as 20 people dead, including police officers and secondary school students of Akunu Grammar School.

The heavily armed robbers, who witnesses say were up to 25, came in four vehicles, and blocked roads leading to the commercial area. They attacked banks, commercial offices and shops and by the time they were done, many were dead.

They indiscriminately killed people including four policemen who engaged them, people who were withdrawing money from the ATM, students returning from school, shop owners and passersby. The worst part is, there was a police station close to the banks so they must have felt safe.

By the time the robbers finished and were making their escape, they killed five more people. Schools and banks closed the next day and the governor of the state paid a visit to the place yesterday.
