Chelsea captain John Terry
According to Mirror Sport UK, Zola has sounded out Terry about a money-spinning move to the Al Arabi which will include a huge pay day.
Zola has reportedly held secret talks with Terry’s advisers and the former Chelsea player is confident his connections will help persuade 35-year-old Terry to move to Qatar.

Chelsea captain Terry is now free to talk to foreign clubs because he is out of contract at the end of the season and .
The club subsequently released a statement saying contract negotiations could be opened.
Qatar are desperate to bring in big stars to boost their domestic league and also build-up to the 2022 World Cup. Former Barcelona star Xavi has gone to Al Sadd.

Vardy has signed a long-term contract
Jamie Vardy will have significant salary
According toThe Guardian, Leicester City sensation Jamie Vardy has signed a new contract that will expire only in 2019.
The source also reports that Vardy, who currently earns £40,000 a week on a deal that has the best part of two and a half years to run, has been given a significant salary hike as a reward for his remarkable progress.
In May 2012, Vardy signed for Leicester City in the Football League Championship for a non-league record transfer fee of £1 million, and represented the club in the Premier League after winning the Championship in 2014. Vardy made his international debut for England in 2015.
England striker Jamie Vardy has broken former Manchester United star Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record by scoring in an 11th consecutive top flight game.
Taking to Instagram to congratulate Vardy on his new feat, former record holder Ruud Van Nistelrooy wrote: “Well done vardy7! You’re number one now and you deserved it.”
The former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has explained that Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy will succeed anywhere.
Mourinho said:  “He is top scorer and it is normal that big clubs want him. Even at a big club transitions are important, fast players are important, people to attack space behind defenders are important.”
“Obviously in the big teams sometimes we face very low blocks where technical players to play in the box are very much needed, but I think a fast player with objective and being direct can have success everywhere,” he added.

– The former manager of Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, was questioned about a new coach of Manchester City
– Mourinho was also asked about a job in Manchester United
On Monday Mourinho was at Wembley  to support Gianni Infantino’s bid to become FIFA president.
However the 53-year-old batted away a question about a potential move to Manchester United with a swift shake of the head…

The Bayern Munich coach, Pep Guardiola has been appointed as the new manager at Manchester City for next season on a three year deal.

The 45-year-old will replace Manuel Pellegrini, who will leave on June 30. Pellegrini was appointed at the Etihad in 2013 and led the club to the Premier League and League Cup double the following season.

According to the Express,  Chelsea are now believed to be considering Pellegrini as a replacement for Jose Mourinho as Guus Hiddink in charge only until the summer. It also states that the Chilean is 63 in August but he wants to continue managing in the English  Premier League.
According to ESPN, Mourinho’s patience with Manchester United is wearing thin as he holds out to become the Premier League side’s next manager.
Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho was sacked barely seven months after he helped the London club win the English Premier League.

His representatives have reportedly reached out to the Red Devils on his intention to take over from Louis Van Gaal.
The source states that Mourinho’s camp has already made informal contact with Inter and Paris Saint-Germain, forcing the United hierarchy to move fast if they wish to see the Portuguese in the Old Trafford dugout.

Twins often hate to be separated by things like marriage
These twin sisters have decided they don’t want to be separated, so they have agreed to share one husband
The twins and their husband
Twin sisters Owami and Olwethu Mzazi from South Africa, have allegedly married the same husband. In a country where polygamy is widely accepted, relatives did not have any problems with the twins decision to stay together with the same man, till death do them part.

According to reports, this didn’t come as a surprise, as the twins had always dreamt of marrying the same man. The 26 year old twins are married to 51 year old Mzukiseni Mzazi. Here’s what one half of the twins, Owami, had to say:
“We have always done everything together…that is how our grandmother raised us. So when we decided to marry, we said any man that wants to marry one, will marry the other.”
Here’s hoping they all have a life of bliss together.
There is a battle raging in the house of late Biafran General’s, Odimegwu Ojukwu
His wife, has made controversial claims as the trial heats up.
Bianca Ojukwu, wife of late Biafran General, Odimegwu Ojukwu, has made highly controversial claims in an ongoing legal battle which is threatening the peace of the late warlord’s home.
The widow of the late Ikemba of Nnewi, made her claims on Monday, January 1, at the trial which held in a Lagos state High Court sitting at Igbosere.
Bianca Ojukwu
In the tussle between her and Ojukwu’s brothers over the family estate, Mrs Ojukwu in her evidence in chief before Justice Abdulfattah Lawal, admitted that neither her nor her children are shareholders or directors in Ojukwu Transport Limited (OTL).
She also admitted that Ojukwu has eight children which includes the claimants, Afamefuna and Nwachukwu, adding that she is the only one that was legally married among Ojukwu’s wives, as she engaged in court, Church and traditional marriage.
Bianca, under cross examination also told the court that the suit that was filed before the court is only for the right of her children and not other children of Ojukwu.

The witness further informed the court that some of the OTL properties in question had been in the possession of her late husband before his demise, adding that the rent of those properties were being collected by her husband.
NAN reports that Bianca had on behalf of her two under-aged children, Afamefuna and Nwachukwu (claimants) dragged Ojukwu Transport Limited (OTL), and seven others before a the court, over an alleged move by the family to eject her sons from the company’s properties located in Lagos.
She had asked the court to declare that her children are entitled to the possession and occupation of one of the properties known as No 29 Oyinkan Abayomi Street, Ikoyi Lagos until the harmonisation of the management and administration of the assets of the first defendant, OTL.
The defendants in the suit are: Prof Joseph Ojukwu, Engr. Emmanuel Ojukwu; Lotanna Putalora Ojukwu; Dr Patrick Ojukwu; Arch. Edward Ojukwu; Lota Akajiora Ojukwu and Mrs Massey Udegbe (doing business under Massey Udegbe & Company).
In the suit, Bianca, and her two children, had in their statement of claim, prayed the court to declare that the threat of forceful ejection from 29 Oyinkan Abayomi Street by the defendants is illegal.
She is also asking the court for a declaration that her children are entitled to possess the following property, namely: No 13 Hawksworth Road, Ikoyi (now known as No 13 Ojora Road; No 32A Commercial Avenue, Yaba, Lagos; No 30 Gerard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos and No 30 McPherson Avenue, Ikoyi.)
Bianca who recently was returned to Nigeria for , said the properties were under the possession of late Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, the father of the claimants from the time the properties were released from government acquisition till date.
The claimants stated that throughout the period their father was struggling to retrieve the properties from the government, the second to seventh defendants “never played any role in the struggle nor contributed financially or otherwise to the realisation of the struggle.”
However, the judge adjourned the matter till today, for continuation of cross examination of Bianca.
– The insurgents kill 6 people in attack on Borno community
Nigerian Air Force bombards Sambisa forest
The deadly Boko Haram sect continued its deadly attacks in Borno state.
In a fresh attack on Goniambari village in Kaga local government area six people were killed while one resident received gunshot injury.
The sources said the terrorists also set ablaze some houses and cars using Improvised Explosive Devices and petrol bombs before looting foodstuffs and livestock.
In a related development the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has said it has continued aerial bombardment of Sambisa forest, with over 280 operational strikes organised against the insurgent targets in the area in the last one month.

Air Vice Marshal Oladayo Amao, the deputy Air Theatre Commander of Operation, Lafiya Dole, said that the air raids and bombardments were led by the air component of the operation Lafiya Dole in the north-east.
He said that the current air operations and surveillance within the theater of operation in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states were strengthened between December 2015 and January 2016 towards wiping out the deadly sect.
Several other air bombardments were carried out in and around the Sambisa forest region, further reducing the capacity of the insurgents.
Goniambari village is south and 15 kilometres from Beneshiekh, the council headquarters of Kaga local government of the state. Kaga is  about 80 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.

The Boko Haram during last week several times attacked the capital of the state.
Just this morning another in Bulabulin-Umarari, two kilometers outside of Maiduguri, and Muna Garage within the city.
– Diya explains reason he thinks President Buhari is on the right track
– Speaks on relationship with Abacha
-He also highlighted the reason corruption has been prevalent in the country
General Oladipo Diya (rtd), a former Chief of General Staff (CGS) was Nigeria’s vice president under the late General Sani Abacha’s regime as Nigeria’s head of State.
He was arrested for treason in 1997 and would have been eliminated but for the death of his boss in 1998 as he was given a presidential pardon by Abdulsalami Abubakar who took over from Abacha.
In this no-holds-barred interview with The Sun, he declared categorically that President Muhammadu Buhari will not only successfully complete his first term of four years, he will run for another term in 2019 to complete his constitutionally allowed eight years.
General Oladipo Diya speaks on the present administration and his former boss.
Diya also opened up on his dilemma over the agitation for Ijebu state in 1996, and why it was not achieved when he was number two 2 citizen of the country.
Read excerpts from the interview here:
Do you think the 1985 coup that brought Gen Babangida to power was necessary, looking at the fact that the corruption which Buhari was fighting then is what Nigeria is still battling with now?
It’s so sad that Nigeria is still battling with the issue of corruption. But I was too junior at that time to comment or give opinion on issues like that. In the military, junior officers only obey laws and order. You don’t have opinion or comment on decisions. You’ll get to a particular rank before you can express your opinion, especially on tactical matters.
As a retired Lt General and former number two citizen, what do you have to say on the disrupted war against corruption and the crisis the country is facing today as a result of corruption?
The way I will look at it, government as late Chief Obafemi Awolowo said, is a continuum. Government is there. And there is a reason for government to exist. And problems would always be there for government to solve, otherwise why do we have government. Problems would always be there. It is unfortunate that people believe that once somebody comes and spends four years in government and leaves, that is the end of everything. No! Otherwise, you will have nothing to campaign about if there is no problem at all, Nobody will come to say I will do this, I will do that.
If the war against indiscipline embarked upon by Gen Buhari in 1984 had been sustained, what do you think Nigeria as a nation would have become by now?
President Muhammadu Buhari has been fighting corruption since he assumed power.
Well, it depends on the person there. I mean, when I was a governor, one day I heard a governor had been removed and redeployed. We wondered about what he did that could have led to his removal. Later, we heard that he approved a contract without the knowledge of the State Executive Council. You know we have State Executive Council. And certain things must pass through the State Executive Council before they are approved. So, if you implement certain projects without the knowledge and approval of the State Executive Council then you have committed an offence. So, when you hear that a governor has been removed because of that offence, it makes you to be more careful because you don’t want a situation where you will be held for such offence.
When late General Sani Abacha was the Head of State, he introduced War Against Indiscipline and Corruption, but after his death a lot of high level corrupt acts carried out by his government were exposed, do you regret being his deputy then?
Well, I thank God that I served innocently and fairly. And up till today, nobody has been able to raise an issue that General Diya did this or that. That alone gives me a sort of satisfaction of the mind, and a consolation. When you are talking in terms of corruption and all sort of negative things, nobody could say General Diya was involved.
Would you ascribe that to the kind of discipline you got under Buhari?
Yes. I served under Gen Buhari. And I knew Buhari would not tolerate any rubbish from anybody.
Are you saying that was the type of lifestyle you imbibed while in the military?
Yes; to the glory of God. And I still believe Buhari is still the same now. So, I’m happy.
Now, looking at corruption and the havoc it has caused in Nigeria, how will you describe the latest effort by President Buhari, bearing in mind that some people are already complaining that it is bringing hardship?
I have nothing to say, except to just appeal to everybody to be patient with Mr. President. Buhari is going to spend four years. And after that, he is going to spend another four years. He has not spent a year out of the first four years and people are already complaining. All I will say is for our people to just be patient and support the president.
About 20 years ago, there was strong agitation for creation of Ijebu State. What actually happened that Abacha could not honour you with the creation of the state, whereas Ekiti got it?

Late Sani Abacha was the Head of State when Diya was the number two man in Nigeria.
At the time the agitation for creation of more states started, people from the old Ijebu Province applied. But unfortunately, at the time the agitation for Ijebu State was going on, leaders of the Ijebu at that time were not in agreement with Abacha’s government for whatever reason. They were right for demanding for the creation of a state for Ijebu because among all the 12 provinces in Nigeria during the colonial era only Ijebu Province has not become a state. Some provinces have gotten up to two or three states each whereas the Ijebu province is still merged with Egba to be one state. So, they were right for demanding for creation of a state.
Unfortunately for them at that time, there was this NADECO (National Democratic Coalition) which was strongly opposed to the government of Abacha and formed mass resistance against military rule as far back as 1994, agitating for the actualisation of June 12, 1993 presidential election. NADECO leaders then were mostly leaders of Ijebu people, including our reverred father, late Chief Abraham Adesanya, who was a former senator and leader of the NADECO. People like Chief Ayo Adebanjo, even this our father from Ayepe-Ijebu, late Onasanya and many others, were leading the strong opposition against Abacha’s administration.
Above all, our revered royal father, Oba Awujale, was very outspoken in the struggle for actualisation of June 12. In fact, they named him Oba NADECO at that time in the government circle. They all had their reasons, but Abacha was not happy that these people were giving him serious headache at the time. How can he create a state for people who were committed to fighting his government to stand still. This was the main reason Abacha found it impossible for him to do.
Whereas the Ekiti people were not like that. The Ewi of Ado- Ekiti mobilized all the Obas in Ekiti and they came on solidarity visit to Abuja to see Abacha. So the Head of State and all around him were impressed with the visit. I knew immediately that he would surely create Ekiti State for the people. You know, I, Oladipo Diya brought Prof. Aluko to Abacha to work with the government. So, during the time of the agitation for state creation, Aluko encouraged the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti to come. And all the Obas in Ekiti paid solidarity visit. Prominent people from Ekiti like General Adeyinka Adebayo(rtd), Aare Afe Babalola were not found in any opposition group and they all worked towards the actualisation of Ekiti State. Both Baba Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo(rtd) and Chief Afe Babalola were not in NADECO at all.
Now, tell me, if two groups of people are asking for something from you. And leaders of one group are committed to fighting you, the other group does not give you any problem, instead, expresses some level of support for you, would you give those who are committed to giving you strong opposition and asking you to leave your position of authority? That was what happened on the issue of Ijebu State. The opposition from leaders of Ijebu in NADECO was very tough. I said they used to call this same Awujale, Oba NADECO, instead of Oba Awujale, you can understand my dilemma. While Awujale was also agitating for creation of Ijebu State, he was also insisting on having the state capital in Ijebu Ode, while the people of Remo were saying they don’t want their identity to be lost to state creation. They want the name to be Ijebu- Remo, or Remo-Ijebu State.
The Akarigbo of Remoland even said recently that they want it to be named Awolowo State if the capital must be in Ijebuland, and if it must be named Ijebu State, that the capital should be in Remo. Abacha was only laughing at them because he didn’t want to create a state for those who wanted him to vacate his seat. That is the whole truth.
How did you feel on that day in 1996 when states created by Abacha were announced and none was for your people?
Because I knew earlier that the Head of State was not interested in creating a state for people he saw as giving him problem, I was not surprised.
Some people said you were making efforts to make Odogbolu, your hometown, the State Capital?
(Cuts in) Not some people. It was the Awujale himself; because he made a broadcast. You know he is our Baba. Whenever he talks; as a father he jokes a lot. So, any time he talks and cracks those jokes I would just laugh. He was the one who said that Odogbolu wanted to be capital. What type of thing is that? Would I say I would not allow a state to be created if the capital is not in Odogbolu? What kind of nonsense is that? How can I say that? In fact, even if it is Odogbolu, is Odogbolu not in Ijebu? That is not an issue at all. As a father, you should be happy that it is in Ijebu. But, like I said, he is our father.

Nigerians are not happy over the trips of their president as the country is facing a lot of challenges now.
– Nigerian police officers display their newly acquired training in counter terrorism.
– The security operatives public display is aimed at sending a signal to Boko Haram members.
Some Nigerian police officers, this afternoon, February 2, 2016, took to the street of Abuja to display their newly acquired training from the counter terrorism unit of the force.

The counter terrorism arm is responsible for curbing of any possible terrorist attacks. The officers whose morale are very high took to the street of the FCT to display their newly acquired tactics. Demonstrating in unison and flaunting their sophisticated fire power.
Other security personnel from the counter terrorism unit were also seen on the street display.
The security dogs handlers were not left out of the public display of security preparedness, which is believed to be aimed at sending a stern warning to the Boko Haram members.

Recall that as Nigeria became deeply plagued by the destructive activities of the Boko Haram terrorist group, the Federal Government received help from the U.S. Government’s Anti-terrorism Assistance Programme (ATA) in October 2015.

About 200 Nigerian police officers benefited from that training, which ATA said was the largest in Nigeria.
The U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Mrs Maria Brewer, at the training in Abuja, explained that the exercise was aimed at achieving new innovation among the participants.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Every four years, Iowa is besieged by thousands of journalists and cameramen, adrift in a Midwestern culture many have never experienced. They breathlessly report the discovery of farms, rifles and meatloaf.
As Yahoo News discovered when we dove into the rabbit hole of local Iowa Facebook groups, not all Iowans spend their days atop a tractor. They include arty feminists, dedicated cosplay nerds, obsessive vapers and many other interesting things.
And they also may have interesting political opinions. We asked a few Iowa Facebook groups to describe the political candidates through the lens of their hobbies. Below, a brief and incredibly educational survey of what we discovered:
This private 688-person group is one of Iowa’s many online vape communities, dedicated to the pleasures of getting a nicotine fix without tobacco, where members are encouraged to share their “favorite juices and pictures.” Clayton Wentzel, a 28-year-old Des Moines resident who works at the 2-month-old Atomic Cloud Vaporium, is one such member. Though Wentzel confesses he’s “not that into politics,” because he “hates seeing the wrong kind of people getting support,” he had much to say about where a few candidates would fit in the vape world.
“I’d like to think Bernie would be a vaper,” he told Yahoo News. “And he would be a flavor chaser for sure.”
A flavor chaser, for the uninformed, is a particular vaper who spends his free time collecting and tasting new e-liquids and vape juices.
“He actually listens to people and hears them out,” he said. “Tries a lot of juice and hears a lot of stories.”
On the flip side, Wentzel pictures Donald Trump as a “cloud chaser,” a vaper who puts together a device designed to blow the biggest and most attention-grabbing vapor cloud.
“It’s all showmanship,” he said. “He puts on a show for attention. Doesn’t care about anything but the cloud.”
As the description of this 1,092-member community says, “If you like Halloween, costumes, Cosplay, comic books, video games, monster movies, aliens, historical reenactments … all in the state of Iowa … THIS IS THE GROUP FOR YOU!!!”
Cosplay filmmaker Pierre Doanatto, 39, joined the group to trade tips for constructing costumes and share news of upcoming Comic-Con-esque events. Doanatto says he’s mostly unimpressed by the candidates. “There’s always a candidate that promises to do this and that, but it never happens, because they get redirected to do something else.”
Of everyone on the roster, however, he thinks Trump would likely be the most natural cosplayer because “he’s done TV and film.” He was also happy to imagine what characters certain candidates might best embody.
According to Doanatto, Trump would be Serpentor, the snakelike Cobra Emperor from the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero comic book and cartoon series. He pictures Ted Cruz as the historical figure Napoleon for his demeanor and personality. “He even somewhat looks like him.” Marco Rubio would be the Joker from Batman (similar shoes). Jeb Bush would be MODOK, a Marvel villain created by scientists that was originally designed as MODOC (a Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing) but turns evil and renames itself MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing). Finally, he says Chris Christie would be the Violator, a portly, machine-gun toting clown from the Spawn comic books.
On the Democratic side, Doanatto pictures Hillary Clinton as the Evil Queen from Snow White. Bernie Sanders’ posture and hairstyle, he says, would make the Vermont senator a natural for the role of Mr. Burns — you know, aside from the whole billionaire part.
The 526-member Des Moines Girl Gang aims to create a “non-exclusive, female-driven, supportive and encouraging community of artists that thrives on sharing creative endeavors and resources with one another.” Postings include potential job leads, invites to local knitting groups (described lovingly as “Stitch ‘n’ Bitch” sessions) and notices of upcoming pop-up cat cafés.
Kate Moore, a graphic designer at Des Moines’ Delta Design, says that while the group has a feminist bent, its political views cover a wide spectrum — from those concerned about social equality to local entrepreneurs with small-business interests.

Most male fans of Harry Potter likely have a lot of jealousy towards Rupert Grint. He is, after all, the guy who gets the girl at the end of the series. That girl being Emma Watson’s Hermione, locking lips with Ron Weasley and breaking the hearts of every young boy and middle-aged creep in the theater.

But it wasn’t as special as one would think for Grint. In fact, the entire experience was a little weird for the young star according to People Magazine:
“I never look back at that scene…
“I’ve known Emma since she was literally 9 years old and we had this very brother-sister relationship,” explained the English actor, 27, whose new film Moonwalkers was released this month. “And it just felt very surreal. I have a memory of her face getting closer and closer. Like, ‘Oh my God.’ I can’t really remember anything apart from that.”
Grint also talks about all the pressure in the scene and how “one take was enough.” Who knew that instead of it being a never-ending smooch fest like this:

It would seem that Susan Sarandon caused quite a stir at Saturday’s SAG Awards. The 69-year-old actress is clearly a Seinfeld fan and decided that a bra/jacket combo was good enough to wear out to the awards show.
It was a daring move, especially since Sarandon was set to introduce the in memoriam segment of the awards, sharing some wonderful words about her dear friend David Bowie — and apparently sharing a lot else too. But the thing about Sarandon’s choice here is that it doesn’t really matter. She’s not breaking any laws and she pulled the look off nicely.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speaks at a rally at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. (Photo: Andrew Harnik/AP)DES MOINES, Iowa — Hillary Clinton wants Iowa voters to consider gun control when they caucus in two days. At her event on Saturday, Clinton was joined by gun control activists Mark Kelly and Gabby Giffords. Emotions ran high as Giffords, who was wounded in a mass shooting and still struggles to speak, suggested Clinton is the best candidate to “stand up to the gun lobby.” For her part, Clinton, who is normally far more subdued even when making a forceful point, raised her voice in anger and incredulousness as she argued America’s gun laws must change. “When I’ve traveled around Iowa the last couple of months, I have heard about … what happens when children, young children, toddlers, kids in elementary school find that loaded gun in the closet or under the bed,” Clinton said. “I’ve heard the stories. I’ve seen the news reports about the ones who are killed. … What is wrong with us? How can we continue?”Slideshow: On the trail and down to the wire in Iowa >>>Clinton was introduced at the event by her daughter, Chelsea, who said she “couldn’t imagine a stronger president to keep us safe.” After Chelsea spoke, Kelly, an astronaut, took the stage. Kelly said he and his wife believe “there is only one candidate that is willing to take on the tough fights.” He also alluded to the struggle that Giffords, a former congresswoman, has gone through in the five years since she was shot.Gabby served for about two-and-a-half years in Congress; then she was injured,” Kelly said. “You know, it’s tough for me to talk about this, but often one of the last things Gabby will say to me before she gets in the car to go to an appointment to do some grueling physical therapy, speech therapy, she’ll say, ‘Fight, fight, fight.’ She doesn’t give up.”Afterward, Giffords made a brief statement.  “Speaking is hard for me,” Giffords said. “But January, come January, I want to say these two words: Madam President.”Her words came slowly.“Hillary is tough. Hillary is courageous,” said Giffords. “In the White House she will stand up to the gun lobby. That’s why I’m voting for Hillary.”

(Photo: Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)Though she didn’t mention his name, the elephant in the room was clearly Clinton’s top rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.). Painting Sanders as not being a strong supporter of gun control has been one of the main attacks from the Clinton campaign during their primary fight.Clinton said her gun control policies would be “consistent with the Constitution” and claimed she is regularly approached by gun owners and hunters who agree with her stance.“I agree with President Obama. The steps that he announced are ones that I fully endorse, executive action, put more resources into the work of doing the background checks, going after the gun dealers who are so irresponsible,” Clinton said. “But none of it will stick if it’s not a voting issue and, as you go to caucus Monday night, please think about this.”

(AP Photo/Patrick Semansky)DES MOINES, Iowa — On Monday night, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s tiny band of supporters will be the center of attention in Iowa precincts across the state.O’Malley had only 3 percent support in the final Des Moines Register-Bloomberg Politics poll, but because of the Byzantine rules of the Democratic caucusing process, his supporters could end up deciding the incredibly close race between Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders. In each of the state’s 1,681 caucusing locations, a candidate must get 15 percent of voters to be considered viable during an initial count that’s taken at the beginning of the evening. O’Malley isn’t expected to reach that threshold in the vast majority of precincts, which means his supporters will be up for grabs — they must either choose another candidate, or their vote will not count.Wooing voters who back candidates that fail to meet the threshold has made a big difference in elections in the state in the past: John Edwards finished a surprise second in 2004 thanks in part to Dennis Kucinich’s supporters defecting to him. And Bill Richardson’s backers joined Barack Obama’s camp in 2008.The Clinton campaign is arming its precinct captains with special software to help them figure out how to keep O’Malley supporters from defecting to Sanders’ camp, BuzzFeed News reported Saturday. Meanwhile, Sanders’ precinct captains are being told to beef up on their O’Malley knowledge so they can entice his fans over to their side and to offer them delegates for the county convention as inducement.“You might have to cut a deal,” said Mitch Henry, a Democratic activist who was leading a small training for Sanders precinct captains Saturday afternoon in a coffee shop in Des Moines. “Let’s say in this case you have 10 O’Malley supporters. You would maybe offer them a delegate. You could say to them, ‘OK, you 10 come over, we give you a delegate.’”This is a largely symbolic concession — the O’Malley supporters’ votes would go to Sanders in the caucus, but in the county conventions later on, their delegate could switch back to supporting O’Malley. If horse-trading fails, there’s always the power of persuasion.“I would definitely beef up on the O’Malley top 5 issues, see what they are,” Henry told the precinct captains. Henry, who supported Sanders until a little more than a month ago, added that he believes most O’Malley supporters’ second choice is Sanders.“Talking to a lot of O’Malley supporters, there are a lot of ways Bernie lines up on the issues. A lot of them will say the environment [is their top concern], and Bernie is clearly superior to Hillary on the environment,” said Bri Steirer, a precinct captain for the Drake University area. But the Sanders plan to convince O’Malley fans with delegates and issues may not be able to compete with Clinton’s scheme. The Clinton campaign has trained its precinct captains to use software that calculates when it benefits Clinton to give O’Malley supporters a few of their votes in order to block them from defecting to Sanders. That means Clinton supporters would help O’Malley become a viable candidate in precincts where she would still carry the day.A Sanders precinct captain, Darlene Lawler, asked Henry about whether Bernie supporters should be trying to do the same thing — helping O’Malley become viable in cases where it would help Bernie.“I would not give them three or four people to be viable because you just don’t know what could happen,” Henry said, adding that the “math” can get complicated as the night goes on, and it’s easy to make a mistake.
Clinton’s campaign has an app that will help caucus leaders calculate the risks, however, which means they don’t have to worry about mistakes.
Ivanka Trump is a busy woman. In addition to working full-time as executive vice president of development and acquisitions at the Trump Organization, she spearheads the #WomenWhoWork initiative, founded the Ivanka Trump Collection, is an entrepreneur, a mother of two young children — and is expecting her third in two short months. Trump spoke to Yahoo Parenting about why she doesn’t like the “having it all” conversation, how her husband, real estate developer Jared Kushner, is a hands-on dad, and how her father, Donald Trump, has been an “incredible” role model for her children. Ivanka, who spoke to Yahoo Parenting the day before the Jan. 28 Republican debate, which her dad has bowed out of, does joke, though, that her kids are still too young to really know much about his presidential run. But that doesn’t mean he’s not priming them to follow in his footsteps: Between summers spent together at their New Jersey golf club, driving around the streets of New York City with 4-year-old Arabella, and teaching her how to point out potholes, the grandpa is “really, really amazing with the kids,” she says.Ivanka Trump: I feel great. Our house is in a constant state of chaos but I feel great. Arabella is very excited [too]. Joseph is less excited and is now just constantly reminding me that he’s my baby. … He’s very excited though that I moved him in to share a bedroom with his sister. They’re thick as thieves and it’s the most fun thing to ever have happened to them in their lives.I Never ‘Do it All’ — and I’m OK With That
You’ve spoken often about hating the “Can you have it all?” question. Why does it bother you so much? It implies that there’s only one right way to live your life, and that’s just not true. Having it all means different things to different people. In the arc of our own lives, even, we have different priorities at different times. What’s incredibly important and fulfilling today is very different from what I thought was important and fulfilling at 22. So the definition of happiness and fulfillment evolves. You have to discover for yourself what your priorities are and what’s important to you. That’s how I like to think about my life.Donald Trump’s Troubled Brother: When One Sibling Doesn’t Fit InWhat’s your priority right now? It’s really the individual time with each of them, spending one-on-one time with them. … Arabella loves reading. Joseph always wants to play with cars and trains with me on the floor. I make sure each day I spend like 30 minutes doing something with each kid.
– Goodluck Jonathan speaks on how he tackled Boko Haram as the president of Nigeria.
– The former president highlights major achievements of his tenure.
– He reveals some secrets on stabilizing Africa’s dwindling economies.
The former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has revealed secrets of how he tackled Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast of Nigeria, while he was still at the helms of affairs.

Jonathan said that one of his greatest tools for fighting the war against against the sect, was education. He made the disclosure while addressing a press conference at the Geneva Press Club on Wednesday, January 27.
The former commander-in chief gave details of his post presidential focus and touched on some of the roles his administration played in key areas of the Nigerian and West Africa polity.
Ex-president Jonathan honoured in Switzerland.
The speech which laid particular emphasis on security and education can be read below:
Though this event is billed as a press conference on a Better Security and Education for West Africa, for the sake of time, I will focus on my experience in government which gave me a practical demonstration of how education impacts on security.
I will thereafter touch on my post presidential focus which is on advancing democracy and good governance in Africa and increasing access to opportunity for wealth generation in Africa.
If you peruse the official UNESCO literacy rates by country, what you will find is that all of the top ten most literate nations in the world are at peace, while almost all of the top 10 least literate nations in the world are in a state of either outright war or general insecurity.
Lower education levels are linked to poverty and poverty is one of the chief causative factors of crime whether it is terrorism or militancy or felonies. With this at the back of my mind, I began the practice of giving education the highest sectoral allocation beginning with my very first budget as president in 2011. My policy was to fight insecurity in the immediate term using counter insurgency strategies and the military and for the long term I fought it using education as a tool.
As I have always believed, if we do not spend billions educating our youths today, we will spend it fighting insecurity tomorrow. And you do not have to spend on education just because of insecurity. It is also the prudent thing to do.

Nigeria, or any African nation for that matter, can never become wealthy by selling more minerals or raw materials such as oil. Our wealth as a nation is between the ears of our people.
It is no coincidence that the northeast epicenter of terrorism in Nigeria is also the region with the highest rate of illiteracy and the least developed part of Nigeria.
In Nigeria, the federal government actually does not have a responsibility for primary and secondary education, but I  could not in good conscience stomach a situation where 52.4% of males in the northeastern region of Nigeria have no formal Western education.
The figure is even worse when you take into account the states most affected by the insurgency.
83.3% of male population in Yobe state have no formal Western education. In Borno state it is 63.6%.
Bearing this in mind is it a coincidence that the Boko Haram insurgency is strongest in these two states?
So even though we did not have a responsibility for primary and secondary education going by the way the Nigerian federation works, I felt that where I had ability, I also had responsibility even if the constitution said it was not my responsibility.
Knowing that terrorism thrives under such conditions my immediate goal was to increase the penetration of Western education in the region while at the same time making sure that the people of the region did not see it as a threat to their age old practices of itinerant Islamic education known as Almajiri.
For the first time in Nigeria’s history, the federal government which I led, set out to build 400 Almajiri schools with specialized curricula that combined Western and Islamic education. 160 of them had been completed before I left office.
I am also glad to state that when I emerged as President of Nigeria on May 6th 2010, there were nine states in the northern part of the country that did not have universities. By the time I left office on the 29th of May 2015, there was no Nigerian state without at least one federal  university.
Now the dearth of access to formal education over years created the ideal breeding ground for terror to thrive in parts of Nigeria but there are obviously other dimensions to the issue of insecurity in Nigeria and particularly terrorism.
You may recall that the fall of the Gaddafi regime in August 2011 led to a situation where sophisticated weapons fell into the hands of a number of non state actors with attendant increase in terrorism and instability in North and West Africa.

The administration I headed initiated partnership across West Africa to contain such instability in nations such as Mali, which I personally visited in furtherance of peace.
And with those countries contiguous to Nigeria, especially nations around the Lake Chad basin, we formed a coalition for the purpose of having a common front against terrorists through the revived Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).
Those efforts continue till today and have in large part helped decimate the capacity of Boko Haram.
Another aspect of the anti terror war we waged in Nigeria that has not received enough attention is our effort to improve on our intelligence gathering capacity.
Prior to my administration, Nigeria’s intelligence architecture was designed largely around regime protection, but through much sustained effort we were able to build capacity such that our intelligence agencies were able to trace and apprehend the masterminds behind such notorious terror incidences as the Christmas day bombing of the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla, Niger state.
Other suspects were also traced and arrested including those behind the Nyanya and Kuje bombings.
Not only did we apprehend suspects, but we tried and convicted some of them including the ring leader of the Madalla bombing cell, Kabir Sokoto, who is right now serving a prison sentence.
But leadership is about the future. I am sure you have not come here to hear me talk about the way backward. You, like everyone else, want to hear about the way forward.
I am no longer in office, and I no longer have executive powers on a national level. However, I am more convinced now than ever about the nexus between education and security.
My foundation, The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, was formed to further democracy, good governance and wealth generation in Africa.
Of course, charity begins at home and for the future, what Nigeria needs is to focus on making education a priority.
Thankfully, the administration that succeeded mine in its first budget, appears to have seen wisdom in continuing the practice of giving education the highest sectoral allocation. This is commendable.
I feel that what people in my position, statesmen and former leaders, ought to be doing is to help build consensus all over Africa, to ensure that certain issues should not be politicized.
Education is one of those issues. If former African leaders can form themselves into an advisory group to gently impress on incumbent leaders the necessity of meeting the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recommended allocation of 26% of a nations annual budget on education, I am certain that Africa will make geometric progress in meeting her millennium development goals and improving on every index of the human development index.
Data has shown that as spending on education increases, health and well being increases and incidences of maternal and infant mortality reduce.

In Nigeria for instance, average life expectancy had plateaued in the mid 40s for decades, but after 2011, when we began giving education the highest sectoral allocation, according to the United Nations, Nigeria enjoyed her highest increase in average life expectancy since records were kept. We moved from an average life expectancy of 47 years before 2011 to 54 years by 2015.
I had earlier told you about the connection between education and insecurity.
I believe that it is the job of former leaders and elder statesmen to convince executive and legislative branches across Africa to work together to achieve the UNESCO recommended percentage as a barest minimum.
I intend to offer my services, through The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, for this purpose and I invite interested organizations to help us make this happen.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, this, in a nutshell are some of my thoughts for a better security and education for Africa and I will now entertain your questions,” the statement reads.
The Vanguard reports that the conference was well attended, with an audience made up mostly of diplomats, policy makers and journalists.
In the same vein, GEJ has made some remarks regarding the ongoing $2.1 billion arms scandal thatis rocking Nigeria at present. The ex-president said , adding that his voice will be heard on the issue in due course.
In his frankest comments on the 2016 Democratic race to date, President Obama said in a podcast interview published Monday that Hillary Clinton has the skills necessary to govern and that the grassroots enthusiasm surrounding Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders does not remind him of the excitement that propelled his historic 2008 presidential campaign.
“Bernie came in with the luxury of being a complete long shot and just letting loose,” Obama told Politico. “I think Hillary came in with the both privilege — and burden — of being perceived as the frontrunner and she has been in the public eye for a long time and in a culture in which new is always better. You’re always looking at the bright, shiny object that people haven’t seen before – that’s a disadvantage to her.”
Obama’s remarks were the closest he has come in public to endorsing his former secretary of state — while distancing himself from the Vermont senator.
The president suggested Sanders will have to broaden his message if he wants to make the transition from a long shot for the White House to a legitimate one.
“One thing everybody understands is that this job right here, you don’t have the luxury of just focusing on one thing,” the president said. “As you’ll recall, I was sitting at my desk there just a little over a week ago … writing my State of the Union speech, and somebody walks in and says, ‘A couple of our sailors wandered into Iranian waters’ … That’s maybe a dramatic example, but not an unusual example of the job.”
When asked if Sanders’ rise reminded him of himself in 2008, Obama replied: “I don’t think that’s true.”
Obama’s comments on the Democratic race come at a critical time for both candidates as they battle for position ahead of the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary. And for an administration that has publicly affected a nonendorsement strategy, they amount to a tacit endorsement of Clinton, who leads in national polls but finds herself locked in a dead heat in Iowa and trailing Sanders in New Hampshire.
“The truth is, in 2007 and 2008, sometimes my supporters and my staff, I think, got too huffy about what were legitimate questions she was raising,” Obama said. “And there were times where I think the media probably was a little unfair to her and tilted a little my way in calling her out.”
Obama said Clinton “had a tougher job” throughout 2008 primary than he did.
“She had to do everything that I had to do, except, like Ginger Rogers, backwards in heels,” he said. “She had to wake up earlier than I did because she had to get her hair done. She had to, you know, handle all the expectations that were placed on her.”
He added: “Had things gone a little bit different in some states or if the sequence of primaries and caucuses been a little different, she could have easily won.”
