Olivier Rousteing is on fire. On Tuesday night, Balmain’s creative director threw a Wall Street bash in honor of the brand’s H&M collaboration (it goes on sale Nov. 5) that didn’t just draw Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and co., but also reunited the Backstreet Boys, who jumped on stage in Balmain jackets to perform some of their biggest hits from the ‘90s. Seriously, we DIED. Also, the clothes were so hot, the fashion crowd barely knew what to do with them.
“I would normally wear a mini with a wool jumper,” said British model and TV host Alexa Chung, referring to her black, micro-sized blazer dress (or maybe it was just a blazer worn as a dress?). “But, I don’t think that would be Olivier-approved.”
“Olivier — you know his style — he wanted these super short, short dresses,” said H&M Design Director Ann-Sofie Johansson before the show. “We were like, ‘We have to lengthen them,’ so we had some fights about that.” But she felt OK with the compromise: “It’s so totally different than last year’s Alexander Wang — which was so sporty, urban, more street. This is glamorous, so detailed, so French.”
Indeed, what the collection might have lacked in fabric, it certainly made up for in opulence — and presentation. A raw, concrete former bank was transformed into a two-story metro terminal, with purple neon lights and a Plexiglas central staircase, where a troupe of dancers in I Dream of Jeannie ponytails and booty shorts kicd things off with some pretty crazy body contortions and, of course, twerking. Then the #BalmainArmy marched out, in their sharp-shouldered military blazers, intricately beaded wiggle dresses, silk Hammer pants, and thigh-high suede boots, which all looked fierce, but a little challenging. After going up and down the stairs multiple times, model Jourdan Dunn, wearing caged sandals and a white double-breasted satin pant suit, stuck her tongue out in exhaustion.
But then, as the lights dimmed and the last runway model made her exit, a voice from on high announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, the Backstreet Boys.” For a second, no one knew what was happening — Backstreet’s actually, for real, back? — when A.J., Howie, Nick, Brian, and Kevin emerged, looking sharp in their H&M jackets, singing “Everybody.” Editors scrambled over each other to get a prime spot on the balcony to Instagram their tween crushes’ (still killer) moves and scream their brains out. The Boys played their greatest hits, including “I Want It That Way” and “Larger Than Life,” which the whole thing kind of was.
“That was amazing,” exclaimed Jonathan Cheban, a Keeping up with the Kardashians regular, as he made his way to the frenzied showroom, where guests could shop the collection early. “Best show I’ve ever seen — better than anything at Fashion Week.” He then got to work finding one of those men’s blazers — any of them — in his size.
“I loved the colors,” said Alek Wek, herself in a beaded magenta calf-length Balmain x H&M shift. “When I saw this dress on the hanger, I was like, I don’t know, but I put it on, and it was so comfortable — I never would have expected that. And, I love Olivier is giving Balmain to all these people who couldn’t otherwise afford it. Like, my niece, she’s a university student at Cambridge, she’s like, ‘I’m going to wait in line first thing when it opens.’”
She better get there early, if last night’s shopping event was any indication. Whether it was the high from the performance, the flowing booze, or Rousteing’s dizzying clothes themselves, the sales floor was pandemonium. Victoria Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, tired of waiting for a fitting room, began to strip and try on garments behind a rack. “Can’t you see I’m trying to shop,” snapped Coco Rocha when asked for her opinion about the show, as she grabbed an armful of the more bedazzled numbers. A military olive-green shirt in the men’s section was so coveted (by both genders) that editors would hover as other women would try it on, pouncing on it the second it was abandoned. Joan Smalls — who made a beeline for the men’s department, eyeing some of the T-shirts and threadbare tank tops — was reprimanded by a security guard for cutting in line at check-out.
But Rousteing — fashion’s great democratizer — was loving it. “It’s so fun seeing everyone go crazy,” he laughs. “And having the Backstreet Boys was a dream come true. They’ve been an inspiration for so long; I love them.” As for his after party plans, the designer, who taught Jenner to twerk for H&M’s campaign video, silently lifted his arms, did some robot-like moves and shimmied over to his army of gal pals, ready to dance the night away.

The Nigerian troops detained a suspected Boko Haram leader. The suspect is allegedly a mastermind of the second deadly bomb explosion at Ummudari Molai area of Maiduguri and is possibly related to other terrorist attacks in the Borno capital. The investigation is on-going.

What is more remarkable is that the incumbent president who sought re-election, Goodluck Jonathan … most graciously accepted the results promptly!
“Oh, I don’t know beyond the fact that Tanzania could tragically do worse if it fails to dedicatedly take a leaf out of Nigeria’s newest book on elections!” the paper wrote.

Another national daily, the Guardian of Tanzania, in its own editorial titled “High profile figures among observers will add credibility to poll process, results”, described Nigeria’s former president as a democrat who has pointed the way forward for the rest of Africa.
“Jonathan’s voluntary handover of power to the opposition wrote a new chapter for Nigeria’s democracy, given the fact that it is rare for sitting presidents in Africa to hand over powers to winning opposition parties.”
This Day reports that during his trip to Tanzania, Jonathan is scheduled to meet with the country’s president, Jakaya Kikwete, other heads of delegation as well as the local and international media.

Hillary Clinton says she doesn’t know what to expect when she testifies before the House Select Committee on Benghazi this week, but it’s clear the panel “ended up becoming a partisan arm of the Republican National Committee” determined to derail her 2016 presidential bid.
“I think it’s pretty clear that whatever they might’ve thought they were doing, they ended up becoming a partisan arm of the Republican National Committee with an overwhelming focus on trying to — as they admitted — drive down my poll numbers,” Clinton told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview that aired on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday. “I’ve already testified about Benghazi. I testified to the best of my ability before the Senate and the House. I don’t know that I have very much to add.”
Clinton noted that this is the eighth such committee to investigate the Benghazi attacks.
“They’ve all looked into this and basically just rejected the conspiracy theories that are still floating in some circles,” Clinton said. “I will do my very best to answer their questions but I don’t really know what their objective is right now.”
She also dismissed the controversy surrounded her use of a private email server as secretary of state, saying, “nothing that I was sent or that I sent was marked ‘classified.’”
The Democratic frontrunner is scheduled to appear before the committee Thursday on Capitol Hill.

Earlier this month, former President Bill Clinton called Republican frontrunner Donald Trump a “master brander” whose “pizzazz and zip” has generated excitement within the GOP.
Hillary Clinton agrees with her husband’s assessment of the former “Celebrity Apprentice” star.
“He has brought his oversize personality and his reality television experience to the highest level of American politics and seems to be getting a very positive response among a large part of the Republican electorate,” she said.
But she vowed to continue to criticize Trump “for going beyond the bounds of what I think is appropriate for anybody running for president” — namely, “the attacks that he’s made on immigrants [and] women.”
Clinton declined the opportunity to criticize her Democratic challenger, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, saying any policy differences the pair have pale in comparison to those running for the Republican nomination.
“You could see on that stage in Las Vegas how we are maybe approaching these problems with different solutions, but we’re both seeing the pressures that American families are under and the challenges that they’re facing,” she said. “We’re not peddling the same old failed policies of trickle-down economics and let the corporations do what they want and cut taxes on the wealthy.”
Clinton added: “I think he is raising issues that the electorate — not just Democrats, everybody needs to be thinking about. He has put forward his plans with passionate intensity, and I have put forth mine and just think of the difference between us and the Republicans who have put forward nothing but the same old out of touch, out of date policies.”
A day after the debate, Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta said “the time has come” for Vice President Joe Biden to decide whether or not to jump into the race.
Nigeria’s First Lady Aisha Buhari and vice president’s wife Dolapo Osinbajo were spotted at a Joint Session of The African Women’s Forum on Extremism and Radicalization in Geneva, Switzerland.
By attending the forum, Mrs Buhari, who is from the North-East of Nigeria, is seeking strategic solution to the insurgency crisis.

This might be as a result of the escapades of the 62-year-old politician who has been at the fore front of various controversies in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
Going through online news pages, some of the comments you can readily find under the story of Alamieyeseigha’s death are: ‘Alams is not dead. Stop the lies‘, ‘we cannot be fooled again, it’s all a lie’, ‘hmmn..if he can disguise as a woman to escape justice, he can also fake his death to escape justice this time’…. All these and many more are some of the things a keen observer would get to find all over the news space about his death.

These views are not unconnected to the character of the ‘late’ politician. Nigerians truly do not forget occurrences easily, not even if time has overshadowed it, history still has a way of making everything look quite new.
Ten years ago, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was detained in London on charges of money laundering in September 2005. At the time of his arrest, Metropolitan police found about £1m in cash in his London home. Later they found a total of £1.8m ($3.2m) in cash and bank accounts. He was found to own real estate in London worth an alleged £10 million.
Alamieyeseigha however jumped bail in December 2005 from the United Kingdom by allegedly disguising himself as a woman, although he denied it.

Fast-forward to 10 years later, the British Government announced the continuity of the politician’s abandoned trial in London and the news of his death came just simultaneously!
His death also came exactly a year after his son got murdered in Dubai. The speculation that his death might have been fake was also corroborated by various reports that pointed at cardiac arrest as the cause of his death while Alamieyeseigha’s brother claimed he died due to Acute Renal Failure. This has left many to believe whatever.
