The Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry, LCCI, Monday said Nigeria currently suffers from dearth of business and investment statistics needed for strategic planning.
Speaking at the Presentation of the Nigerian Business Confidence Index at Commerce house, the President of LCCI, Mr Goodie Ibru said, If Nigeria must achieve the desired level of development, the place of data and statistics is crucial and that Nigeria currently suffers from dearth of business and investment statistics needed for strategic planning.
“In fact, decision-makers lack regular access to useful leading economic indicators to aid them in making business decisions even in the midst of rising risk profiles in Nigeria. The Lagos Chamber has decided to mitigate this concern by producing a template for the Nigerian Business Confidence Index (BCI)” he said.
According to him, the objective is to produce an initial BCI that will form the basis for a continuous quarterly BCI survey, analysis and report for the country.
It is a tailor made estimate of the business environment from the perception of top private sector players in Nigeria. Among several benefits of the BCI, we expect to see an increase in the quality and flow of information through the business and regulatory landscape, decision makers can begin to make more timely and better informed decisions.
Ibru said the time has therefore come when the Nigerian government would be aided with results of various surveys to be conducted by various interest groups like consultants, the media, research institutes, chambers of commerce and statistics bureaus in this country.
This development is expected to strengthen the policy response of the government.  The Business Confidence Index is one of the several indices computed in developed economies to measure the pulse of the economy and particularly the level of confidence the business community has in any particular economy. These indices, no doubt have aided the progress we see today in the most developed economies of the world.
He urged government to give more financial support to national Bureau of Statistics (NBS) to strengthen its capacity to provide the needed data and statistics for information users in this country. I also task the statistical agencies on timely release of data as appropriate for decision making and planning.
The Director, Research and Advocacy, Mr Vincent Nwani while presenting the Maiden edition (Q1, 2013) of Business Confidence Index (BCI), said aggregate BCI scores show that business expectation in Nigeria is currently less confident with a weighted score of 10.5 per cent,  This is the aggregate of OECD index indicators score and the localised BCI indicators.
“Kindly note that, BCI indicators are designed so that the score fluctuates between -100 per cent and 100 per cent. For Instance, as investment optimism grows, the indicator would increase from 1 per cent to 100 per cent with a similar decline from -1 per cent to -100 per cent if business leaders become more pessimistic. We ensured that a Nigerian survey take account of the local context that impact businesses in our model. For now, Nigeria lags far behind the 50 per cent minimum benchmark for high business confidence level” he said.
The death toll of the Lagos robberies which occurred in various parts of the state on Saturday and Sunday, has risen to nine after it was reported at Ajah Police Division that a mother of two, Badejoko Akinrujomu, was killed by one of the robbers.
According to a friend of the deceased, the robbers had while attacking Akinrujomu’s home on Sunday night, tied up all the occupants of the house.
It was learnt that while the 37-year-old was being tied up by the robbers, she was able to identify him and the robber opened fire on her, killing her instantly.
She said, “What the neighbours told me was that the robbers came around 3am on Sunday and brought all the neighbours out of their houses. Badejoko (Akinrujomu) lives in the flat on the ground floor and was also brought out.
“The robbers then tied all of them and collected their car keys. As she was being tied up, she identified one of the robbers and the guy killed her. They entered the vehicles and drove away immediately. The deceased, who is a trader, had just moved into that area a few weeks ago.”
The police were immediately alerted of the development and rushed down to the scene.
It was gathered that the policemen were on their way to the robbery scene when they were ambushed and killed by the robbers.
An aide of the former minister of finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala have come out to deny a report by Sahara reporters that the former minster has handed “dossier of Corrupt Deals”to President Buhari as totally false.
According to the Media Adviser to Dr Okonjo-Iweala, Paul C Nwabuikwu.
“The recent report by the integrity-challenged website, Saharareporters and some other media that former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has handed over a “dossier of corrupt deals” perpetrated by the Jonathan administration to President Buhari is completely false and without foundation.
This sponsored lie is part of the political attack by the pay masters of Saharareporters against Dr Okonjo-Iweala.
These attacks will continue given that these individuals are bent on a political and personal vendetta against her.
Why are they angry? It is simply because she tried to bring integrity and transparency to the management of Nigeria’s public finances which obviously did not suit their interests.
Okonjo-Iweala Calls Oshiomhole Names Over Allegations
Saharareporters which has a long history of publishing falsehoods and distortions against Okonjo-Iweala is a paid tool of these individuals.
But the lies of Saharareporters and its cohorts will never stop Okonjo-Iweala from loving her country or make her regret serving it, not once but twice.
As always, we are confident that the truth shall prevail,” he concluded.

The former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been under fire since the end of the last political dispensation. This is not unconnected to her role as the coordinating minister of economy under President Goodluck Jonathan.
Okonjo Iweala have been in war of word with the Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomole with the governor referring to her as “the coordinating minister of economic fraud and financial malfeasance.”
She in return said the governor has diarrhea of the mouth.
Garba Shehu, the senior special presidential assistant on media and publicity, shared the position of the Buhari administration on several critical questions ahead of next week’s official visit to the USA.
Adeola Fayehun, a Sahara TV correspondent, interviewed Buhari’s aide on Saturday, July 18, 2015.
Shehu confirmed that President Buhari vowed to the bring back money stolen by past administrations. He also denied that Onyaku, a former minister of commerce, asked the president to not probe the immediate past leader of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan.
Fayehun also asked Shehu about the ongoing war against the Boko Haram insurgency, and the notable presence of the Hausa tribe among the appointees and the recent replacement for the sacked service chiefs.
“Merit was the yardstick that was used to generate these appointments. I don’t think it will be helpful for us to be counting the number of Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo appointments. That’s why the country is in the position where it is today.
“[President Buhari] has over 6,000 appointments to make. Now why would anyone use less than 10 appointments to judge the president on this matter? Again, it balls down to the lack of patience,” Shehu replied.
Buhari Replies To Accusation Of Lopsided Appointments
Commenting on the recent re-emergence of Radio Biafra, the presidential aide said it plays a negative role in the unity of the country.
“The issue of the oneness of the country had been settled by the civil government, and Nigerians have moved on. I don’t think people should take this fringe group seriously because they do not represent the majority of the country,” he added.
Speaking about the speculation that Obama will try to push Buhari to abolish the anti-gay law signed by Jonathan in 2014, Shehu noted that the opinion of the whole country must be respected:
“The president of Nigeria will address the question when it is raised. Even if President Buhari holds a contrary opinion, he is one person, and he cannot ignore the domestic opinion of the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s upcoming visit to his American counterpart, President Barack Obama, is evidently the most anticipated political event of the near future.
Since the visit was announced there has been much speculation about the objectives and expectations on both sides, and issues to be discussed during the encounter. We have gathered the most notable facts about next week’s meeting.
Find all the things you do need to know below:
1. The major meeting of the two countries’ leaders is to be held on Monday, July 20, although the whole visit will last four days.
2. In an unexpected development Obama decided to break his administration’s tradition and host Buhari as his personal guest at the Blair House and not in the White House. This might be an indication of a US readiness to demonstrate an individual approach in diplomatic relationships with Nigeria.
President Buhari Names New Civil Defence Chief
3. In an official statement the presidency disclosed that the focus would be on the issues of the economy and security.
4. The American side is to pressure Buhari to reverse the Nigerian anti same sex marriage law passed in January 2014. This is not simply speculated, but was clearly stated by the US assistant secretary of state for African affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
5. Apart from the Obama, Buhari will meet with several other senior officials, and with  representatives of Nigerians in the American diaspora.
6. Buhari will be accompanied by the governors of UImo, Nasarawa, Edo, Borno and Oyo states, the CBN governor and several ministers. The presence of the Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima, is of special interest, as Borno is the state worst affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Ramadan End: I Understand Your Hard Feelings, But I Need Your Support – Buhari
7. Some believe that the recent sacking of service chiefs and appointment of replacements might be connected with the upcoming visit, and that such a decisive move by Buhari shows that he is ready to completely change the military strategy in the fight against the insurgency. Under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, accusations against the military leaders by American government finally resulted in a deterioration in relations between the two countries and noticeable withdrawal of US military support. Is there a chance that the chiefs’ sacking is something like an apology for the previous cabinet?
Moreover, if asked what has been done by Buhari’s administration with the huge funds, including foreign money, allocated for the fight against Boko Haram, the president will be able to answer: “I have a new team in place: trusted, with integrity, and primed to actualize my mission of ending Boko Haram insurgency,”, a Vanguard source commented.

Benue state governor is very much concerned about gay activities in his state. In Samuel Ortom’s opinion, there are at least 400 gays in Benue state, whose activities must be prosecuted.
Benua state governor
Benue state governor has annoinced he is not going to tolerate gay activities in the state as well as corruption.
According to the recent estimates of Grace Ashi Wende, the executive secretary of Benue state Aids control agency, 0.009 % of Benue population are gay. It means that there are about 400 gay people among 4,500,000 Benue state inhabitants.
US Gay Marriage: Mugabe Proposes To Obama
The Governor of Benue state Samuel Ortom has expressed his deep concern on that issue, saying that no gay activities in the state would be tolerated. Samuel Ortom has made this announcement while meeting with the Prelate of the Anglican Communion of Nigeria, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh in Makurdi.
TB Joshua, Femi Fani Kayode React To New Gay Law
Ortom has told that gay lifestyle is promoted by the Western world and it is alien to the African customs and the church.

He has also assured the public that he is ready to fight corruption in the state with the same willingness he is ready to fight gay activities.

Earlier the Prelate of the Anglican Communion appealed the people of all faiths in Nigeria to unite in the fight against gay culture, appealing to the Benue governor to do everything possible to help in the church’s struggle against gay marriages in Nigeria.
Archbishop Nicholas Okoh is among many people in Africa who strongly oppose to gay people. Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of Oyo, Nigeria, earlier compared gays with drug addicts and terrorists, saying that despite “gay people have a right to be accepted as human beings,” nevertheless, “there is a distinguishing factor between human rights and human behaviour. I don’t have to accept homosexual behaviour, just like I don’t have to accept drug addition, robbery, and terrorism.
Nigeria’s Anti-Gay Law Sparks International Outrage!
In a bid to gain popular support ahead of presidential election the then-President Goodluck Jonathan toughened Nigerian anti-gay law, which says that  “persons who enter into a same-sex marriage contract or civil union commit an offence and are each liable on conviction to a term of 14 years in prison. Any person who registers, operates or participates in gay clubs, societies and organizations or directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationship in Nigeria commits an offence and shall each be liable on conviction to a term of 10 years in prison.
Woman Resigns From Work Over Legalized Gay Marriage
According to UNAIDS estimates, Nigeria has the second largest HIV epidemic in the world. An estimated 3.4 million Nigerians or around 4 % of the general population, are living with HIV, and UNAIDS argues that tough anti-gay laws undermine initiatives to fight the disease. “The provisions of the law could lead to increased homophobia, discrimination, denial of HIV services and violence based on real or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity,” UNAIDS representatives told the press. “It could also be used against organizations working to provide HIV prevention and treatment services to LGBT people.
Besides Nigeria, one of the most harsh anti-gay laws were adopted in Uganda in 2014.
Ugandan president  Yoweri Museveni, signing the bill that made homosexual activity punishable by life in prison, told the press that “gays are disgusting“.
President Muhammadu Buhari, has been urged to take a cue from the United State and cancel the same sex marriage prohibition Act of 2014.
This comes days after the Supreme Court of the United States of America finally legalised same sex marriage throughout the whole country.
In a report on Sahara Reporters, specifically aimed to attack the “Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2014”, leading human rights organisations, PEN America and PEN Nigeria urged President Buhari to scrap the law as it encourages evictions, mob attacks, police torture, and public whippings against gays.
The recent opinion poll has shown the shift in attitude towards gay people and same sex marriages in Nigeria. According to that poll, Nigerians have become more gay than they used to be five years ago – or at least more gay-friendly.
A 56-year-old pastor at the Christian Proctor Church in Vermont, USA, has been sentenced to one year in federal prison after refusing to marry gay couples.
This comes shortly after the Supreme Court’s ruling to legalise same sex marriages in all states.
NBC reports that Pastor Paul Horner, had his lawyer speak to journalists on his behalf.
“We are currently disputing the guilty verdict and I am confident my client will be a free man here shortly. Horner was just using his best judgement according to his rights and religious freedom in this country,” said the pastor’s lawyer Tom Downey.
Addressing the pastor, Judge Myron Danus handed down the harsh sentence:“Religious freedom goes both ways, Mr. Horner. It is not your place to deny individuals the same rights that everyone else has, rights that were passed down and agreed upon in a court of law, the ultimate court, the Supreme Court. It is not your decision whether or not you agree with the law but more importantly that you follow it and enforce it.”
How Nigerian Taxi Driver Was Punished For Insulting Gay Passengers
The criminal investigation found out that the Christian Proctor Church is registered in the state as a “religious corporation” limited to performing “one-man-one-woman marriages as defined by the Holy Bible.” However, the church is also registered as a for-profit business; therefore, its owners must comply with state and federal laws.
Meanwhile, Steve Shand, the president of the Vermont Family Research Committee, wondered:“Homosexuals are gay. Why should Christian ministers be forced to perform and celebrate any marriage that conflicts with their beliefs? It is a slippery slope my friend. Pretty soon these same pastors will be forced to wed animals or kitchen appliances. This is not my America!”
The former American president Jimmy Carter has thrown his weight behind the recent approval of same sex marriage by saying: “I believe Jesus would approve gay marriage, but that’s just my own personal belief.”

He said this when he received the prelate of the Anglican Communion of Nigeria, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh, at the old banquet hall in Makurdi, the state capital.

He said gay culture was against African culture and beliefs and was being promoted by the West.
The governor, who said his administration would shun corruption, commended the Anglican Communion for its strong stance on homosexuality.
“Gay marriage is not a belief of Africans and the Church. The issue is a new development and is a reflection of the event of Sodom and Gomorrah, so we must reject it,”  he said.

Archbishop Okoh in his response urged the government to help in the fight to resist gay relationships in the state. He cited the fact that the three major religions in the country were against same sex relationships.
Meanwhile, Okoh has urged the federal government not to accept same sex marriage especially as it is being legalised in other countries.

Ahead of Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with his American counterpart, Barack Obama, Project for Human Development (PHD), a civil society organisation, has cautioned the Nigerian leader.

Members of PHD urged Buhari not to listen to the US government on issues of gay rights in order to protect laws and values of Nigeria.
PM News reports that the call was made on July 19, Sunday, at a rally titled “Gay Marriage: Obama, Please Leave Nigeria Alone”, which was held in Lagos.
Jerry Okwuosa, the director-general of PHD, said that the aim of the rally was to hint the president that Nigerians are worried that Obama might ask him to decriminalize the same-sex prohibition law of Nigeria. According to him, promotion of gay rights is a part of America foreign policy.
US TRIP: President Buhari Leaves Abuja, Heads To Washington (Photos)
“The US is now the major exporter of gay rights in the world. It has recently pressurized Uganda for a reverse of its anti-gay law. Under the influence of the US, Mozambique has recently decriminalized its anti-gay law. At the moment, US is putting pressure on Kenya to legalize gay marriage.

“President Obama is meeting with President Buhari tomorrow to discuss issues which include security, economy, Ebola and gay marriage legalisation in Nigeria. Fear is being entertained that Obama might trade off US assistance to President Buhari’s government with shooting down Goodluck Jonathan’s anti-gay law. We are however, urging President Buhari to reject such a trade-off,” he said.
Sonnie Ekwowusi, a director of PHD, stressed that homosexuality is not Nigeria culture; it is a taboo or abomination.
“Every society has its own values and should grow with those values. Nigeria has her own values and we must stick to our values and tradition. Laws are made in consonant with the values of the people. Every country is interested in protecting what it holds dear.”
Nigerians Not Really Happy On Obama-PMB Meeting, Expect The Two To Go On A Date
Speaking on behalf of people taking part in a rally, Ekwowusi concluded:
“Our view is that homosexuality is an acquired habit that ought to be eradicated and not be transformed into an acceptable human conduct by law (in Nigeria). Our recommendation with regard to same sex marriage is absolute prohibition”.
It would be recalled that Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US assistant secretary of state for African affairs, said that America would continue to pressurize Nigeria until it legalizes same-sex marriage.
Earlier this month, leading human rights organisations PEN America and PEN Nigeria urged President Buhari to take a cue from the US and cancel the same sex marriage prohibition Act of 2014.

Both had been said by critics to hate each other massively due to the fact as they are always in the hunt for the World’s Best Player.

Well Ronaldo has said he actually has no issues with now or ever.
He said: “It’s not at all true that we have a bad relationship. We are colleagues and have a professional relationship,” the Portugal star told Marca.
“We don’t have a relationship outside of football like I have with some other players. He tries to do his best for his club and national team and I do the same. There is a certain rivalry where we are each doing our utmost for our teams.
“This rivalry is part of my life. It is only normal that people compare us. The same happens in Formula 1 with Ferrari and Mercedes. I’m used to it. This has been the case not only since I joined Madrid, but already when I was still at Manchester United.
“I hope that we can both laugh about all this. Football is a game, it’s something fun and something we both like. We must face this rivalry in a positive way because it is a good thing. Football is something beautiful that all the fans enjoy.”

Ronaldo began the 2014-15 campaign in wonderful form netting three goals in four games for Los Blancos.

However she expressed her support in quite a controversial manner, posing topless, with the #BringBackOurGirls placard covering her breast.
Irina came under attacks, with social media users having tagged it as “tasteless” and “disrespectful” and “insensitive”. While some fans blasted the model, the others reacted positively saying that such a photo will raise more awareness to the campaign.

Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo has denied calling his colleague, one of Barcelona FC’s and world top scorers Lionel Messi, offensive names.
In the new book titled “MESSI”, Ronaldo is accused of often referring to Messi in the insulting language in the Los Blancos dressing room.
Despite the fact that the two best footballers of the modern times often come hand in hand in the world ratings, Ronaldo rejected the insults allegations saying he would never treat a fellow professional with such disrespect.
It was also provided in the book that CR7 jokingly compared the FCB striker with a dog or puppet kept in one of Ronaldo’s designer bags.
The 29-year-old was outraged by the allegations saying:
“This is absolutely false and I have assured my lawyer takes action to sue those responsible. I have the utmost respect for all my professional colleagues, and Messi is obviously no exception.”

It would be recalled that on Saturday, November 22, the 27-year-old beat the long-standing record of Telmo Zarra during the Spanish league match against Sevialla at Camp Nou and became La Liga all-time top striker.
The Argentinian nailed down his success on the international level with a hat-trick at the November 25 Barcelona’s 4-0 win against APOEL, Goal.com reports.
The yesterday’s clash in Group F became historical for the striker in particular and Barca in general, as Messi broke Real Madrid legend Raul’s record of 71 goals in Europe’s premier club competition.
Moreover, Barcelona’s new striker Luis Suarez shot his debut goal for the Catalan club, after 5 goalless matches for the team.
Despite the fact that Suarez opened the score, it was definitely Messi’s night and he struck twice in the second half assuring Barca’s place in the last 16.
It would be recalled that the star footballer has recently made a worrisome comment about his vague future in the club, for which he has played for more than 13 years. Messi said that football is very “changeable” adding:
“I always said that I’d like to stay there forever, but things don’t always work out as you want them to.”
The ambiguous claim triggered hot discussion among Barca fans, and not only. However Messi’s father shed light on the situation having calmed down the excited football lovers.
He said that his son’s quit was not “even on the agenda” adding that “as people read between the lines there is exaggeration”.
Real Madrid became the first club in Champions League history to win all their group matches on two occasions after  4-0 win over Bulgarian side Ludogorets on Tuesday.

France’s Ribery won the award last time around ahead of Messi and Ronaldo.
This time Ronaldo prevailed in a vote by 54 European journalists which took place on the sidelines of the draw for the Champions League group stages in Monaco.
“I’ve worked hard for this award, I am very happy, I thank all my team, because without that kind of team individual awards couldn’t exist,” said the reigning Ballon d’Or titleholder, after receiving his award from UEFA chief Michel Platini.
Ronaldo failed to sparkle at the World Cup in Brazil where Portugal were eliminated in the first round, but inspired Real Madrid on the European stage.
The 29-year-old broke the record for goals, 17, by a player in a Champions League campaign last season as Madrid claimed their tenth European title.
“It was amazing, something that Madrid had looked to do for many years,” said the striker.
“As Madrid players we feel as though you have to win the Champions League. It was a fantastic season – we won the Champions League, the Spanish Cup and the (UEFA) Super Cup.”

The coach revealed the main reason while speaking on Reading’s official website, Premium Times reports.
According to Clarke, one of the key qualities of the 32-year-old striker is his ability to create chances in front of goal.
“We knew what we were getting when we signed him. Yak’s a goalscorer and we brought him in for games like that, when it’s open and you know you’re going to create chances towards the end,” he said after the recent match.

The Head Coach admitted that Reading had been facing difficult times. But he also expressed the hope that Yakubu would be able to make things a little easier for the team.
“We’ve had three difficult away games in the cup but each time the fans have gone home happy which is a little bit of joy in a difficult season. We’d take anybody next – home or away. We look forward to the draw, but the game is three weeks away. We’ve got five league games before then, first of all Wigan on Tuesday.
“There’s still work to do in the Championship. We’re seven points off the bottom and we need to secure our position.

Dino Melaye, the senator from Kogi-West senatorial district has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to respect the views of President Muahammdu Buhari on the emergence of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Punch reports.
The source notes that Melaye was referring to a statement by Buhari’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, in which the president said that he was willing to work with whoever the lawmakers elected.
Melaye Accuses Tinubu Of Backing Adeyemi At Court
Dino Melaye stated: “President Buhari said the election of Saraki followed constitutional provisions. At that point, the party and its leaders ought to have slowed down. Mr. President said he would work with whoever was elected. At that point, the party leaders ought to have taken direction from Buhari, who is the National Leader of the APC.The President is the National Leader of APC. The moment he said he had no preference, the party should have respected Buhari. Nigerians must realise that the people’s sovereignty is far greater than the party’s supremacy. Just like the Bible is dearer to me than the constitution.”
The senator said he had no regrets supporting Saraki, promising to protect and defend the people of his senatorial district and the Nigerian constitution.
“The gullibility of so many on the social media is embarrassing. I have no regret supporting Saraki. I worked and voted for competence. I will be the last person to support anti-party activities or support the satanic party that I assiduously helped to uproot,” he added.
Super Eagles forward, Emmanuel Emenike has narrated his ordeal hours after he narrowly escaped death in Turkey.
According to Emenike, he and his Fenerbahce teammates were left in shock after their team bus was shot at by a gunman on Saturday night in Turkey.
The Turkish league leaders were travelling to Trabzon airport to fly back to Istanbul, following their 5-1 victory over Rizespor, when the shooting happened.
BBC Sport reports that the driver was taken to hospital, but no players were injured in the attack which Emenike described as a ‘scary moment’.
 Nigerian Striker Emmanuel Emenike Injured
“The incident left several players in shock on a day we should be celebrating a big away win,” Emenike told BBC Sport.
“I was on the phone with my brother when I heard the loud sound and I thought one of our tyres had busted because the bus was swerving on the road.
“But when I found our security officer in front of the bus I knew something must have gone awfully wrong.”
The 27 year old Emenike says it was not long before they realized someone had been hurt.
“We quickly realized the security guy was the one who hit the break, and he said the driver [who was already soaked in blood] had been shot.
“The word ‘shot’ came as a big shock but when we saw blood and the shattered driver’s side window, it quickly turned into a scary moment for everyone on the bus.”
He continued: “It’s unbelievable that some people actually fired shots at our bus and the driver was badly hit, a bus conveying footballers and officials.
“It’s strange, but it’s also an indication that things happen in life and no one can be guaranteed complete safety.
“I just want to wish our brave driver a speedy recovery. I will forever be grateful to him and our security man because that bus could have plunged down the bridge.
“The outcome could have been terrible and tragic but we are all here today because of them and of course God was on our side.
Emmanuel Emenike Ends His Goal Drought
For Emenike, the shooting was particularly shocking as it brought back bad memories.
“I’ve been involved in a terrible accident in Nigeria before, where my mother suffered severe bruises, and for a moment I had a terrible flashback when that bus was swerving all over the road.
“I hope this incident will be investigated thoroughly and the perpetrators are made to face the justice system.
Emmanuel Emenike has only scored four goals in 23 league appearances this season but insists this latest incident will not force him to quit the Istanbul-based club.
“I have a contract here and I love the club,” he added.
“It’s only an isolated incident and not enough to make me look for an easy way out.
“I have put the past behind me and I am only focussing on what lies ahead. I am stronger now than before and right now I just want to wish our bus driver a speedy recovery.”
Fenerbahce have since called for the Turkish Super Lig to be suspended following the attack.
Emenike, who has endured a turbulent period in Turkish football since he re-joined Fenerbahce in 2013 has been plagued with series of hard times in Turkey. Recently, he demanded to be substituted after he was booed by his own fans during their 1-0 home win over rivals Besiktas.
Former Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, spoke to fifa.com when he visited France to feature in the 12 Match Against Poverty, organised by Zinnedine Zidane and Ronaldo de Lima.
Speaking shortly after the charity game, Okocha revealed his best time as player.
When asked which is still his favourite goal of all time, he had this to say, “Yes, the one I got for Frankfurt against Karlsruhe in 1993 stands out a little for me. I was very young and I hadn’t made a name for myself yet. Klaus Toppmoller was my coach at the time and he started me on the bench for that game, which I wasn’t especially pleased about. We were 2-1 up when he finally decided to put me on. We were under pressure and my job was to keep the ball, but we put a break together and I suddenly found myself in the opposition penalty box with four or five defenders facing me. I just dribbled with the ball, going one way and then the next before putting the ball past the keeper, who was none other than Oliver Kahn.”
Arsene Wenger Heaps Praise On Okocha
The chairman of the Delta State Football Association also lauded Ivory Coast skipper, Yaya Toure who he said “is the best African player in the game right now”.
“Yaya Toure is the most consistent performer right now”, he added.

The coach of Liverpool Ladies, Matt Beard, also shared his emotions with journalist:
“She’s not the finished article yet but she’s got pace, power and she certainly knows where the goal is.
“I watched her at the Under-20 World Cup, where she was sensational, and we had early dialogue with her about coming to Liverpool.
“There’s been plenty of other interest in her in the last few months, but she chose to join us and I’m absolutely delighted.”
Although Oshoala is very young, she can already boast of her great achievements. She won both the Golden Boot and Golden Ball – as Player of the Tournament – at last year’s Under-20 World Cup Finals. Moreover, she became the first player from Africa to compete in the Women’s Super League

According to Euronews, Blatter is competing with four challenger for re-election on May 29, when he seeks a fifth term as FIFA President.
“You will find (that) he is very popular on the continent.
“He has done a lot for the continent. It is he who has set up the Financial Assistance Programme (FAP) and who through the Goal Project has built infrastructure in all of the countries,” said Nyantakyi.
Photos: Asisat Oshoala Shares Experience At FIFA Player Of Year Gala  He also mentioned in his speech that unfortunately the European members of FIFA do not understand Blatter’s contribution. Some of them even argued that it was not Blatter’s money but that of FIFA he was using.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee member also shared his opinion:
“But that’s not the point. It is Blatter that set up all the assistance programmes that have helped boost African football.
“FIFA Goal Project is Blatter’s pet project, inaugurated not long after he came to power in 1998, and it has built training centres, accommodation, pitches and offices for cash-strapped associations.’’

It would be added that one of Blatter’s challengers is FIFA Vice-President Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan.
UEFA president Michel Platini was said to be “pleased” that Prince Ali decided to enter the race.
“I know Prince Ali well. He has all the credibility required to hold high office. We now await his proposals and his programme for the future of football,”  Platini said.
The Nigerian international, Emmanuel Emenike, has dispelled rumors that he performed a spiritual ritual to put an end to his goal drought.

According to Daily Post, the Fenerbahce striker had not scored for his team since November 2014, but managed to do it last weekend playing against Karabukspor.
Emenike was allegedly not feeling good about his energy. Therefore, he decided to take part in the spiritual ritual.
Commenting on the recent rumors, the footballer said:
“What did they mean by ritual to lift a curse? I take exception of such reports. I am a Christian, a proud Catholic, I never believed in rituals, I never do it and I was not involved in such as they claim.”
“Strikers always have off and on periods when it comes to goal scoring. I have had mine, it is in the past. I have returned to my best and nobody can stop me.
Asisat Oshoala Reveals Her Plans For The Season “I don’t believe in juju or whatever name they call it, my rosary is my companion and my parents never taught me to be fetish. My almighty God will do what those people behind such fake claim about me deserve.”
“When I was not scoring goals, I was criticized, now I have started scoring, they came up with rituals wahala.
“I think it’s another way of distraction, I’m not ready for that trash.”
