The opposition party All Progressives Congress (APC)
has today staged street protests by marching to the headquarters of
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Maitama District of Abuja.
They are demanding cancellation of the controversial governorship election in the Anambra State that took place November 16. The protesters also submitted a formal petition with their request.
Are you a witness of the event? Send us your pictures! Thank you!
Soldiers have been drafted to the HQ of the INEC as part of a heavy security build-up to stop the march.
Earlier,
November 27, the APC leaders announced their intension to march in
protest against INEC’s plan to hold a supplementary election in Anambra
State. The polices, however, rejected the APC’s application to organize a protest, citing security reasons.

Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has
promised to ride his bike from Nigeria to China in solidarity with
president-elect, Mohammadu Buhari, if he is able to equal the value of
the naira and the dollar.
The controversial singer posted this on his Facebook page following the growing solidarity by Nigerians who are now trekking and cycling from different parts of the country to congratulate Buhari.
“Una remember D guy wey trek from Lagos to Abuja? Another Malam wan ride bicycle from Sokoto to Abuja. All for General Buhari, hummmmmmm! Makachukwu, if Buhari fit make 1Naira become 1Dollar, In the next four years. I go ride my Bike from Abuja to China I swear”.
Below is his post:
Recall that Suleiman Hashimu trekked from Lagos to Abuja in celebration of Buhari’s victory.
On Thursday a 45-year-old man from Borno State Mallam Adamu Abdullahi started a trek of 868 kilometres from Maiduguri to Abuja to plead with the president-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, to end the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast.
What do you think, is Charly Boy serious or is he simply playing pranks?

Former Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria
(PMAN) president, Charles Oputa (Jnr) also known as Charly Boy has bared
his mind on the recently conclude general elections. In a piece
published on Linda Ikeji’s blog, Charly Boy reserved praises for the
major actors in the electioneering process.
I must first congratulate Mr. President, Goodluck Joanatan for his maturity, magnanimity and statesmanship by being the first to congratulate General Muhammadu Buhari on his win at the polls, e no easy sha. Accepting defeat. This is a sign of a shift in the right direction. Nigerians should be proud of the freest and the fairest election ever! Elections in Africa, over time, have come to be a time of despair for contesting candidates, and for the citizenry whose energies at seeking decent leadership for their countries have always been a worthless effort.
It is also a time for the opposition to endure all that comes with an uneven political playing field such as harassment of opposition leaders and their members as well as the abuse of state machinery to further intimidate opposition supporters and retain government. For the electorate, it is again, a time when they have to be fed on a diet of lies, misconceptions and falsehood, those similar to folktales. In short, tales by moonlight.

Since
the birth of our democracy, it has never been said that incumbent
administration lost presidential spot; even though we have seen a few
States like Oyo where incumbents have never returned to that seat.
In
the same vein, elections have always been marred with clear signs of
malpractices until the 2011 polls that saw the installment of Jega as
the Electoral Boss. For the first time, we had an election that was
adjudged by all as free and fair, as was evident that
the people’s choice emerged. This year again, history has been repeated
and made even better. These elections have been ruled by not a few to
be free and fair; which might, for the first time in history, change the
history of oppositions and power of incumbency.
I should probably say that this man Jega is a man of many firsts, besides his obvious qualities of courage and tenacity.
I
have never been into Nigerian politics but when it comes to identifying
and celebrating deviants (in a good way), I really do for obvious
reasons: I am one myself. This time around we need to give it to this
man Jega. He deserves our standing or sitting ovation.
I
wish that our youth can learn a thing or two from his administration,
his willingness and ability to take in pressure, not break, stay focused
and deliver on set task not minding whose ass is fucked.
I
want to now see a Nigeria where our youth will rise up and take the
challenge to do things right even in the face of great opposition and
going outside the norm. A nation where the youth are driven by the
desire to do what is right and not what is normal, bearing in mind that
the annals of history have no space to feature men who repeat history,
rather, men who deemed it worthwhile to go out of their way, break
protocols, create new realms and standards.
Jega
is a lesson in calmness, a brilliant Professor and am very proud of him.
Today, the International Community is full of accolades for Nigeria
because of this achievement.
Everybody,
including the super powers, has one thing or the other to learn from
this to better their own. Now, that’s unbelievable as commendable!
Say
what you may about Jega, failed card readers, lateness of INEC
officials to polling units, late accreditation, late night voting,
announcing of election results in series as in soap operas, whatever;
this man is a moving train. He knows what he’s doing and Nigerians
better know that.
In my opinion, and I think I speak for many, the success of the 2015 presidential elections is a vote for Jega.
In my opinion, and I think I speak for many, the success of the 2015 presidential elections is a vote for Jega.
Once
again, I salute your courage Attahiru Jega, history, I am sure, has a
place for men like you. Once again our young democracy seems maturing
as elections can be said to reflect the will of the people. I can’t
judge if that ‘will‘ however, is the best alternative
to our young democracy but we sure have joined the rest of some other
African countries like South Africa, Benin Republic, Cote d’Ivoire,
Senegal and Ghana, who have taken the courage to move away from the
ruling party syndrome.
So fellow Nigerians, with a
standing ovation wherever you’re reading this, raise your glasses, let’s
doff our hats as I propose a toast to the focused, undeterred,
visionary, tenacious, resilient and outstandingly brilliant Professor,
Atahiru Jega!!Meanwhile, after emerging winner of the presidential elections, Buhari spoke in an interview with the BBC’s Peter Okwoche, in which he discussed his plans on how he will tackle Boko Haram.
Charly Boy Says He Needs Help
Controversial music veteran Charly Boy is on the verge of ‘losing it’.
The musician, who looks like he is in need of words of relief, took to his Facebook page lamenting the unremarkable state of the Nation. He said that it might just make him crazy. He talked about the controversy surrounding his endorsement of Buhari. He said that on the preferred man for the job of president in Nigeria, he will rather sidon dey look. Here is the post below:
“Since the past two weeks my phone has been ringing off the hook. My associates and friends are shocked at what was purported as a Muhammadu Buhari’s endorsement by The Brand, Charly Boy. Haba, who dash them? Looking at the campaign so far, I am so pained and ashamed of how low we have sunk. It’s no more about the issues that threaten the future of our youths and our country but the obnoxious, petty, childish mudslinging of the parties trying to outdo themselves. Kai!
In the article that I personally posted on my Facebook, I talked about a benevolent dictator, one who would come and kick some ass of all the people responsible for our pitiful situation because quite frankly, we the followers are weak with fear and guilty of inaction. Even though I’m aware of Buhari’s antecedents, I don’t believe he can pull this off. Obviously I believe that age will lead him to compromise on many fronts and that’s not what is needed at this time, aside the fact that some wolves are in bed with him. Will he become the sheep?
I no go lie, I tire. Hoping that the favour of God will see us through all this. My heart goes out to the suffering masses and the youths of this country, who have no dreams to dream anymore, no leaders to follow and no values to aspire to. The youths of this country are dying in the quicksand of hopelessness and frustration. The few good people left are finding it extremely difficult to hang on to the values they grew up with that defined their character, because this is a country where honesty is looked at as stupidity and integrity, as being mumu-rized.
See how greed, selfishness and corruption have eaten up every sense of reason; every sense of responsibility. Many young people have been abandoned by fathers who are madly engaged in the losing battle of survival; many mothers have been pulled away from their natural hearts of compassion, family values and love in confusion. They wonder constantly, tempted by promises made by heartless and ruthless men drunk on blood money.
Oh God, who will bail the cat? This is all a bad dream; I wish I could wake up! OhhhhNaija! It is hard to imagine the level of deception and power drunkenness within our government and leadership. Round after round of unimaginable afflictions poured out on the people like vials from hell’s darkest parts. No compassion on the poor, suffering masses. Jesus!
Where we dey go? Untold poverty from the south to the north, through the east to the west, even in this poverty, we stand disunited, why? What proof do we still need to ask questions about our destination and to start to remedy the mistakes we have made through our insane greed, as we sing, clap and dance for those riffraff’s responsible for this iniquity? God go punish dem.
Kai! Naija, where nobody send anybody! Government chop alone, masses on their own.
My God, I need to wake up from this nightmare that has held me paralyzed in my dream!
What can take this pain away, what can sanitize our decayed minds, what can make it well for us again? Which way Naija?
Someone, please say something before I craze….

As
for Goodluck, I know he is a jolly good fellow who really doesn’t want

The musician shared new photos on his Instagram page and he shared a new post on his Facebook page titled ‘I Am, Lucifer’. See the photos below:
Here’s what he posted on his Facebook, saying he is Lucifer…
”I Am, Lucifer. No come dey frown face as if you be winche. As you don hear Lucifer now, e dey be you like make you take off? Sometimes I wonder, What’s really is in a name.
Yea! Sometimes a name could be such a big deal. Am sure you’ve heard the phase “As pious as a Pope”, but sometimes some of the Popes ain’t all that, abi? As gentle and peaceful as Jesus, who really thought his followers Love and tolerance. Now,when you hear the name Lucifer nko? All negative things come to mind, like demons, Satan, evil, wickedness, name it. However, such mindset is as laughable as it is ridiculous and nonsensical.

Now, let me bring light to the hidden things of darkness. The task is a laborious one but it is neither impracticable nor useless, just a way of sharing this Truth on somethings hidden by the darkness of prejudice and ignorance. The ignorant erroneously believes that Lucifer = Satan, has struck its roots too deep in the soil of blind faith, to allow many people to bravely, boldly, and unashamedly accept the true origins and true nature of what the so-called Lucifer actually is. Those who attempt to do so are always bound to be immediately labelled as “satanists” and “devil worshippers” like Us, by a certain class of Christian, those whose trademark characteristics invariably tend to be wilful ignorance and mental laziness.
It has indeed become a “branded name,” one which still automatically conjures up the image of an anthropomorphic devil even in the minds of the most hardened atheists. Haba, e don do.
Consider these few points. “Lucifer” literally means Lightbringer, Lightbearer, Bringer of Dawn, Shining One, or Morning Star. The word has no other meaning. Historically and astronomically. The word “Lucifer” occurs only once in the entire Bible. This is in Isaiah 14:12, which says: “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!” Those who read this verse in its actual context will clearly see that the sentence is applied specifically to a certain Babylonian king who was an enemy in war of the Israelites. Christianity does not have a monopoly on the term “Lucifer” nor on its definition. The Christian concept and definition of the term “Lucifer” is merely the latest in a long line of definitions and interpretations of this pre-Christian-term
All of this, so f*ing what Charly?
Christians who claim that Lucifer is the devil actually have no Biblical basis or authority for such a belief. Though they may claim to be “Bible believing Christians” whose faith is built solely on “the Word of God” they are actually followers – in this and many other respects – of Christian religious tradition and not of the Christian Bible. Or have they quietly conferred divine infallibility upon their Pastors, Prayer warriors, and Man of God.
Yes, I am Lucifer and am Proud.”

One way to get noticed at a traditional event in Nigeria is a gorgeous ‘gele’ style.
“Gele” is a Yoruba (Nigeria, West Africa) word for a female head-wraps usually worn at occasions such as weddings and other traditional events.
Head wraps have been part of Africa’s History and different Cultures for years. Starting as early as 1700. They come in many shapes and sizes.

This was the resolve of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the Lagos State University (LASU) during a walk in memory of the adjudged winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election in Ojota area of Lagos on Thursday, June 11.

President of the union, Wasiu Adeyemi, who led the group of students from Maryland to the freedom park in Ojota, noted that the late MKO Abiola remains a hero of Nigeria’s democracy, who has become a reference point for politicians of this generation.
In a chat with Naij.com early Friday, the students’ union leader, popularly called ‘Awo’, noted that: “we are saying that the late MKO Abiola is a hero of Nigerian democracy, who deserves more than we are doing to appreciate him.

“The federal government must recognise June 12 as a public holiday and ensure that it is celebrated as Nigeria’s democracy day instead of the May 29 that is nationally acknowledged for that occasion.”
Speaking on the renaming of the aso rock villa after the late politician, Adeyemi reiterated the stand of the LASU students, noting that: “the new administration has to rename the aso rock villa after MKO Abiola because he truly deserves it as a national icon.”
Just yesterday, national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, opened up on Abiola, regarded as the Aare Ona Kakanfo of yorubaland.
On that day, something very unusual happened as Nigerians of all hues openly showed a shared common dream for a new Nigeria when they voted en masse for the late Abiola. That day is now generally accepted as a symbolism of the sovereignty of the people of Nigeria and embodiment of the invulnerability of their collective vision for a strong and viable united nation.

Chief MKO Abiola died in 1998, after being denied victory in the 1993 presidential election when the entire election results were dubiously annulled by the preceding military president Ibrahim Babangida, because of alleged evidence that they were corrupt and unfair.
Nigerians should jealously guide the historic June 12
general elections of 1993 which would have brought late MKO Abiola to
power as president of Nigeria.
This was the submission of national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who noted also that the June 12 struggle challenges Nigerians to guard the hard won democratic freedom and prevent any hijack or abuse of the very principles of constitutional democracy.

One of the daughters of MKO Abiola, Hafsat
Abiola-Costello, has hailed her dad’s contributions to Nigeria’s
democracy as Nigerians mark the 22nd anniversary of the June 12, 1993
presidential election which Abiola, was widely regarded as the presumed
winner.
According to Premium Times, Hafsat said her father’s democratic experience taught Nigerians and the world that power does not just belong to a cabal.

This was contained in her speech posted on her Facebook wall in commemoration of June 12. She went on to say her father’s victory at the election, which was later annulled, united Nigeria.
“On June 12, 1993, Nigerians united behind presidential candidate MKO Abiola. 22 years on, we are on the march again to end poverty in Nigeria. If the June 12 struggle has taught us anything, it is that power belongs to us all, not just to a small group, most of whom, in the pursuit of their own interests, will abuse the public trust.
“As difficult as it is to sustain, the spirit of agitation that union leaders, activists, market women and youth demonstrated during June 12 must become our default mode. A mobilized population is the only way to ensure our political system delivers the change we want, irrespective of which party is in power. May the labours of June 12 heroes not have been in vain,” she said.

Appointing them early also gives the public and the media time to scrutinise their records before they go to the Senate to defend their jobs.
Buhari has not said it publicly, but there have been reports that a list of ministers sent by state governors was rejected as he insisted no one could dictate to him and he was capable of choosing the best hands himself.
These disagreements may be behind the prolonged delays of appointing ministers and other heads of Parastatals. No matter what, these issues should be soon resolved for Nigerians to have a clear idea of where they are headed, many say. That’s the first issue Buhari would need to resolve as soon as possible.
The second issue is as important as the first. Although Buhari has said in statements that he would be ready to work with any leadership at the National Assembly, it seems Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his partner in the Yoruba region, would want the Spearkership of the House of Representatives to go to the South West.
Many people in the region already argue that if the President comes from the North, and the Senate President goes to the North as planned, what was the whole Southwest – North coalition for if the Speakership also goes to North?
Although, a Speakership will not bring any money or development to impoverished folks in the region, it would convince millions of people in the West that the coalition was worth it, some people argue. It will also give Bola Tinubu, they say, something to cheer about. That’s the second issue Buhari would have to resolve behind the scene as soon as possible.

The third issue Buhari will have to resolve is a clarification of his statement on inauguration day. On that day, Buhari declared in a speech “I belong to nobody, and I belong to everybody “. That statement went viral on Facebook and many people around the world cheered it as they saw it as coming from a man who will not be pushed around or who would lead from behind.
But feelers have it that his political associates who ensured he became President with their resources and platforms were left confused. Some people even argued that the statement was directed at Tinubu who might have thought that he would play a bigger role in the APC central administration, having invested all he had to chase Jonathan out of Aso Rock. Buhari will need to assure his partners that he would carry them along in decision making and will not discard them now that he has become president. Doing that would ensure the survival of his coalition and dimish attacks from the opposition party that may see cracks in the coalition right from the day one.
The fourth issue has to do with relocating the military command from Abuja to Maiduguri until Boko Haram is defeated. Although many cheered the move at the Eagle Square in Abuja, senior officers have told journalists that it wasn’t a great move to relocate the command centre to the heart of insurgency. Many who read their reservations wondered why did Buhari not consult them before announcing such a strategic decision. Many argue that Buhari would need to sit down with senior officers and take the best decision together. After all, Buhari left the army 30 years ago and many things might have changed between 1985 and 2015.
The last immediate challenge Buhari will need to resolve is to visit Maiduguri and Yola where more than 100 people have been killed by Boko Haram in the one week that he has been president.
President Buhari needs to show that he would be different from Goodluck Jonathan who spent years before travelling to Maiduguri even as thousands of people were being killed there by those Buhari describes as the “mindless, godless ” militants.

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally reacted to the outcome of the National Assembly leadership election.
On June 9 Bukola Saraki was elected the Senate president and Yakubu Dogara was voted speaker of the House of Representatives.
The All Progressives Congress, which had Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as preferred candidates, categorically rejected the results in an official post-election statement. The APC defined this election as “unacceptable” and vowed to sanction members who disobeyed its directives.
President Buhari’s reaction was also not long in arriving. Speaking through his media aide Femi Adesina, the president simply said he “noted the outcome of the just-concluded election of leaders of the National Assembly”, Premium Times reports.

Buhari added, however, that it was important for the process of leaders election to be duly followed as initiated by the party. Nonetheless, the president took the view that a constitutional process had somewhat occurred.
“President
Buhari had said in an earlier statement that he did not have any
preferred candidate for the Senate and the House of Representatives, and
that he was willing to work with whoever the lawmakers elected.
