in the past few months and due to this the importation prices of our
petroleum products have been impacted.
Therefore, with the approval and directive of Mr. President and by virtue of Section 6 clause 1 of the Nigerian Petroleum Act, it is my responsibility as Minister of Petroleum Resources to hereby announce a reduction in the pump price of Petroleum Motor Spirit (Petrol) from the current Ninety Seven Naira (=N=97) per litre pump price down to Eighty Seven Naira (=N87=) per litre pump price, effective from twelve (12) midnight Sunday, 18th of January 2015. Accordingly, I have directed the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to ensure strict compliance of this price adjustment by all marketing companies. The General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Friday has said he does not trust politicians. Adeboye spoke in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, during a two-day interdenominational prayer.
According to the cleric, politicians in most cases hardly fulfil their promises. Adeboye illustrated his claim with the story of three travellers – an Indian, a Jew and a politician.
He said while the three men were travelling, they had a problem and went to a farmer for help, but the farmer said he could only accommodate two people.
Adeboye said the Indian volunteered to sleep in the barn, but returned few minute later that there was a cow there.
The Indian, according to the illustration, said he couldn’t sleep in the barn because cows were gods worshipped in his country.
The Jew also came back complaining that pig was inside the barn and that the place was dirty.
The politician also volunteered to sleep there, but instead of the politician to come back to complain, Adeboye said it was the pig and cow that came knocking that the politician should be sent away because he promised to make the environment, including the barn conducive with air-conditioner.
The cleric said, “I don’t trust politicians. Politicians are liars. They don’t fulfil most of their promises. A politician can tell you that they will give all of you (students) chicken each, which we all know it is impossible.”

According to him, God is a master planner who has already planned the leadership development of Nigeria.

A 46-year-old farmer, Olubusayo Sunday, beheaded his wife and daughter, before taking his own life Wednesday in Onigbedu town in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, police said.
While confirming the incident on Thursday, the Ogun State Police Command said the incident has been traced to a dispute between the man and his late wife.
Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said investigations are ongoing.
“The man beheaded his wife and daughter in his Onigbedu house, and committed suicide by stabbing and setting himself ablaze after the ugly incident at about 1315hrs,” Mr. Adejobi said.
He said the man’s attempt to commit suicide was noticed when he stabbed himself and wanted to jump into a well near his house having set fire on himself. He was prevented and rescued by neighbours who later realized he had murdered his family.
The Command spokesman said after the rescue, the man was rushed to hospital where died.
Mr. Adejobi said statements made by the man before he died suggested there was a quarrel between the man and his wife, Oyewole Sunday, 40. Their daughter was three years old, police said.
The police added that a knife and one blood-stained cutlass, suspected to have been the murder weapons, were recovered from the house.
“The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, Ikemefuna Okoye, was taken aback when he received the report of the ugly incident and has directed that the matter be transferred to the department of criminal investigation Eleweran, Abeokuta for thorough investigation,” Mr. Adejobi said.

Isaiah and a man named Jaydee Dorsett engaged in physical combat that involved the use of knifes on Friday afternoon and by the time they were done, the two young men suffered stab wounds. Isaiah took himself to the hospital to get treated but died shortly after. They later said his cause of death was shock, haemorrhage and a stab wound to the chest.
Jaydee, who was also taken to hospital for stab wounds, was arrested and has been charged with murder. He's currently on trial where he's claiming self defense.

 It said samples forwarded to the National Veterinary Research Institute tested positive for H5 strain of Avian Influenza Virus, otherwise known as bird flu, adding that confirmatory samples were sent to the International Reference Laboratory in Padova, Italy, for further characterisation. Avian influenza, known informally as Avian flu or bird flu, refers to influenza caused by viruses adapted to birds. Influenza, commonly known as ‘flu’ is an infectious disease caused by the influenza virus. The ministry, in a statement, noted that it had taken some measures in the affected sites to contain the reported outbreaks. According to the FMARD, it had quarantined the infected premises and placed restriction of movement of poultry and poultry products into and out of areas around infected premises. It said, “All state directors of veterinary services and the Federal Capital Territory, Poultry Association of Nigeria and other stakeholders have been informed and advised to be on alert with intensified bio-security measures to avert possible spread of the disease to other states. “The World Organisation for Animal Health and Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resource and development partners have been appropriately notified in compliance with our statutory international obligations.” It added that it had ensured immediate reactivation of all animal health component of the Emergency Preparedness Plan on bird flu for Nigeria, adding that the conduct of surveillance activities around infected areas to determine the level of spread of the disease was being undertaken. FMARD said, “All stakeholders in the poultry industry are urged to enhance hygienic practices (bio-security measures) which include, but not limited to, regular disinfection, proper disposal of dead carcasses and poultry products and timely reporting of mortalities in poultry and other bird species to veterinary authorities. “We wish to assure the public that, given our experiences in handling previous outbreaks and with your full cooperation in the implementation of containment measures, we are determined to contain this disease again within a short time. We will keep you informed as events unfold.” |

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested three suspected internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State - Okpekereke Timothy, Stanley Odjighere, and Teminor Karo.
The trio are part of a syndicate arrested over allegations of conspiracy, internet scam and stealing from one of the new generation banks to the tune of N806, 208,000.00 (Eight Hundred and Six Million Two Hundred and Eight Thousand Naira). Forty others are still at large.
The theft was perpetrated through a system glitch linked to the fraudsters, in which the bank suffered
a huge loss of more than N806, 208,000
The petitioner, who works in one of the new generation banks, alleged that a review of transactions involving the bank with Interswitch Nigeria limited revealed that the bank was not reimbursed for the transactions consummated on ATM terminals.
Confiscated property
He observed that while many of the transactions involved were failed transactions, the amounts involved were not reversed, and all the customers were seen to have withdrawn the cash amounting to the sum, on each day of the occasion it happened.
The EFCC has so far confiscated the following property, which are proceeds of the crime from the suspects who are all within the South-South zone: one uncompleted 59-room self contain hostel, a twin bungalow in Oghara, Delta State, one uncompleted hotel project, one bungalow with a swimming pool in Ughelli, a bungalow in Agbaro , one Toyota Venza 2010 model, two Toyota Solara cars 2010 model, two Toyota Camry cars, 2010 model and two Honda Accord cars, 2005 model. The suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are completed.
