Topic: DPO Locked Up Himself And Died In His Office In Lagos [Just Like That] (Read 8094 times)

According to PUNCH report, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ijede Police Station, Nwaoha Uzoma, has died. Uzoma’s corpse was found in his office on Thursday, a day after he entered and locked himself in. PUNCH gathered that after he did not pick his calls, anxious relatives and policemen in the station broke the door open and saw his lifeless body on the floor. Uzoma, a Superintendent of Police, was formerly heading the Anthony Police Division, before he was posted to Ijede, in the Ikorodu area, early in December. The deceased, who was married with children, was in his fifties, it was learnt. A police source told PUNCH, “The DPO was posted from Anthony to Ijede around December 5. At that time, he had an illness, which was not very serious. He was a friendly man who could sometime become angry and that’s when you offend him. But once he showed his anger and you begged him, he forgave and that would end it. “On the day of the incident, he entered his office and shut himself in. People didn’t suspect anything because he sometimes slept there. People didn’t see him come out throughout that day and then the next day, they called his phone repeatedly but he didn’t pick it. That was how people became suspicious and broke the door. They found his corpse on the floor.” The police were said to have evacuated the corpse and deposited it in a private mortuary. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, while confirming the incident on Sunday, said, “On December 25, at about 8am, SP Nwaoha Uzoma, was found dead in his office at the Ijede Police Station. His corpse was removed and deposited at St. Raphael Hospital morgue for autopsy.”

Topic: Is President Jonathan Relocating Family To United Kingdom Because Of Boko Haram? (Read 8196 times)

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is not winning the war against Boko Haram. An indication of his fears were confirmed with his recent visit to his kids earlier relocated from the British International School, Lekki, Lagos to London last month. Close aides of the President announced he was going to the United Kingdom without details on his mission last week.

Close sources hinted his recent visit to the United Kingdom was to see his children who he might not see in the next few months of the electioneering campaign. On his visits were some of his close relations to ensure a family re-union.

Prior to the relocation of the children from the British School, his aides had bought a befitting house in upscale London to accommodate the family and their aides, following threats and hints that Boko Haram were on their trails. Observers believed the move by the President preclude the notion that Nigeria is safe and confirms the fears in some quarters that a wholistic approach is being applied to tame insurgency.

If that be the case where lies our hope and confidence that Nigeria is winning the war against Boko Haram Nigeria. Why should a Nigerian soldier put his life on the line when the President has relocated his own immediate family? Who wants to be a sacrificial lamb? These and more probing questions are on the lips of Nigerians who expressed dismay at the development.

As at today, there is no statement credited to the Presidency or his aides on his mission to the United Kingdom.
