Lagos stood still on the 23rd of December, 2014 as the Eko Hotel and Suites played perfect host to Celebrities, Industry insiders, Society A-listers, and other Top echelons at the annual Fashion and Music Event, Music Meets Runway 2014. The brainchild of young entrepreneur Jennifer Olize, MMR Africa for 3 years running has been promoting talents in the Music and Fashion industries by fusing performances by some of the most outstanding artists in the Nigerian Music industry and with a runway showcase featuring some of the most creative designs by up-and-coming designers Nigeria has to offer, from Pret-a-Porter to Couture Fashion.

This event goes beyond the efforts to support Fashion and Music, it also provides opportunities for philanthropic growth through the Music Meets Runway Foundation, as a percentage of proceeds raised from tables sold at the event will be donated to a chosen charity organizations to encourage young students to follow their dreams as most of their schools are plagued with infrastructural deficit common to the Nigerian educational system.

Most guests brought their A- Game on as several A-Listers walked the red carpet including Seyi Shay, Patoranking, Sharon Ojong, Funmi Fagbemi, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Noble Igwe, Kunbi Oyelese, Shaydee, Banky W, Emma Nyra,  Toke Makinwa, Munachi Abi, Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Denrele Edun, DJ Cuppy, Eniola Badmus, and a host of others….

Wizkid, Dammy Krane, Sauti Sol – MTV EMA Best African Act, Seyi Shay, Patoranking and other top acts delivered breath-taking performances to the delight of guests present.

Former Super Eagles defender Taye Taiwo has called for the sack of head coach Stephen Keshi.




Taye Taiwo, who now plays for Buraspor in Turkey, likened Keshi’s failure to qualify for the African Nations Cup to Samson Siasia‘s failure in 2012, noting that Siasia was sacked right after.

Everybody in Nigeria knows that when Siasia did not qualify everybody from the media, the fans insisted that they have to sack him, so it is normal that when a coach does not qualify for the Nations Cup or the World Cup he is not allowed to stay on, I am sorry to say that; they have to sack him (Keshi),” Taiwo told Premium Times.

“Nigeria is not just for one person, if a coach does not qualify you for a competition why do you have to keep him?”

“Please don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with Keshi, Amokachi or even the NFF. The players that have been called are also doing fantastically well, everything is in the hands of Allah. If I get the chance to play for Nigeria I will, if not, life goes on,” he added.

Topic: Two Nigerians Makes The List Of CNN's Most Inspiring Women Of 2014 (Read 6927 times)



Two Nigerians have made Cable News Network (CNN)'s list of most inspiring women of 2014. The Leading Women features extraordinary women who have excelled and made a mark in their chosen professions.

The two Nigerians on the list are accomplished writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and the late Doctor Stella Ameyo Adadevoh who died after contracting Ebola at First Consultants Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria.

"Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie -- The Nigerian writer has authored three novels and is heralded for drawing attention to African literature throughout her award-winning career. This year, she was nominated for Forbes' Africa 'Person of the Year' Award as well as 'Personality of the Year' in the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards.

Dr Stella Ameyo Adadevoh -- The Nigerian doctor died this year after overseeing the treatment of Ebola patient Patrick Sawyer. Her efforts prevented the wider spread of Ebola in Nigeria."

Other people on the list are; Kenyan actress, Lupita Nyongo, Ellen Page, Kerry Washington, Angelina Jolie, Malala Yousafzai, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Joyce Banda, Angela Merkel, Elizabeth Warren to mention a few.

The nominees for the third edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) were revealed on the 10th December at The Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Lagos. The awards are taking place next year.
